For some reason HBP will always be the most emotional to me, just the whole movie really hit me hard in the heart. Don't ask me why, I obviously know that DH2 was very emotional but it seemed foreign to me in a way... HBP was also my favorite book so I guess it makes sense.
"If you make yourself more than just a man... If you devote yourself to an ideal... You become something else entirely- A Legend."
Deathly Hallows Part 2{A+} Deathly Hallows Part 1{A+} Half Blood Prince{B} Order of the Phoenix{B+} Goblet of Fire{A-} Prisoner of Azkaban{B-} Chamber of Secrets{A} Sorcerer's Stone{A-}
I don't know why, but I think it would be cruel to give any HP film a C or lower.
The pace is awful the story is terrible it left way too much out from the book it was a joke. It was way to rushed. Voldemort vs Dumbledore was ok but even that was a huge let down. The only thing they did well was making you cringe when you see umbridge
I'm not good with grades so I'll just list. 1) Deathly Hallows part 2 2) Sorcerer's Stone 3) Deathly Hallows part 1 4) Chamber of Secrets 5) Order of the Phoenix 6) Prisoner of Azkaban 7) Half-Blood Prince 8) Goblet of Fire
The more of these "rank the movies" that come up, the harder it becomes to do. Now that the films are complete, each one really does seem to play it's own role.
Still, I rank them in precise reverse order, with DH2 being my favorite and SS being my least(although it's still great). I from now on consider Deathly Hallows to really just be one huge 4.5 hour movie, because it's much more entertaining that way.
In my eyes, they are all classics. Not saying that just as a fan. They will become classic pieces of the fantasy film repertoire. Sorcerer's stone started it off beautifully, DH ended it magnificently. I also think DH1 will now gain a lot more respect now that it has a proper conclusion with part2. Kind of like Empire Strikes Back
This is a difficult one and my opinions often change but here goes:
1. Deathly Hallows Part 2 A+ 2. Half Blood Prince A+ 3. Deathly Hallows Part 1 A 4. Goblet of Fire A 5. Prisoner of Azkaban A- 6. Philosopher's Stone A- 7. Order of the Phoenix B 8. Chamber of Secrets B
I think this is my current list. I remember adoring Half Blood Prince when it first came out and it's easily one of the most watchable still now. Part 2 of Deathly Hallows is such a brilliant conclusion that it is currently top of my list and those at 4, 5 and 6 often change order. Similar to HBP, I remember coming out of the cinema after seeing Goblet of Fire and thinking how it brilliantly captured the excitement that I had when I read that book, despite the filmmakers being most liberal with what they cut from the book. Chamber of Secrets I still regard as the weakest, perhaps because for such an early story in the series it seems unnecessarily long. Feel free to differ.

Awesome! they're all on the same level for me, the top 4. I love all of the films really (except the fourth one), it feels wrong seeing Philosopher's Stone so low but I still love it, I just prefer the others a little more.

Well what makes me feel sorry for PS is that it's awesome. Chris Columbus' directing was nice, no errors, great editing, awesome sondtrack plus he created and imagined everything on screen with Jo's help... But on the other hand, the movie was very childish, CGI wasn't that great (a few things could've been better), acting wasn't soo good for the children...
So if I considered it as only a Harry Potter movie it would have 9/10 but beeing objective, I give it an 8,5/10 which is a bit more than what it would've deserved as an individual movie imo.
1. Deathly Hallows Part 1(A) 2. Deathly Hallows Part 2 (A) 3. Prisoner of Azkaban (A) 4. Half-Blood Prince (A) 5. Order of the Phoenix (A) 6. Goblet of Fire (A) 7. Chamber of Secrets (A) 8. Sorcerer's Stone (A)
I honestly love them all. Now that all the movies have come out, all the Harry Potter movies will become fantasy classics. I think all the movie deserve an A. Like I said, I like them almost equally. I ordered them on witch one I like to watch more.

I changed my mind. I would movie PoA to number 5, then I would movie HBP to number 3, and then movie OotP to number 4.
1. Deathly Hallows Part II 2. Half-Blood Prince 3. Deathly Hallows Part I 4. Prisoner of Azkaban 5. Order of the Phoenix 6. Goblet of Fire 7. Chamber of Secrets 8. Philosopher's Stone
After watching all eight films over the course of three days for the first time, my order has now changed. I've always had a hard time putting them in order and it'll probably change again the next time I view them, but here's my current order from watching all eight:
Order of the Phoenix/Deathly Hallows (combined) Goblet of Fire/Prisoner of Azkaban/Half-Blood Prince Chamber of Secrets Philosopher's Stone
I was surprised how well the films connected (yet continuity issues are not absent). I am also surprised at how much I enjoyed certain films more than I had done before. The context of the narrative really puts the films into perspective. I got a really political vibe from the films when watching them all together, especially with Phoenix. The Death Eaters and Voldemort also seemed more threatening in the films when given the context of the story. It really makes a difference when watching all the films together for the first time.
Also, grading them is really hard as I love them all so much, yet each film isn't without its faults. I think they'd range from grade A- to B-.

So you like OotP more than HBP now? I remember you loved HBP a lot. I like OotP more than HBP now too. While the "technical" aspects of HBP are better, I prefer Phoenix's story and handling of the source material.

I still love HBP and its atmospheric and symbolic nature, but OOTP has become one of my favourites. I agree with you in that I prefer the political story of Phoenix to HBP, yet 'technically' HBP is better. But I think some aspects of OOTP are better than HBP and other aspects of OOTP are inferior to HBP. But ultimately, I do prefer OOTP to HBP because of the narrative, the political realism and the tight focus on Harry as a character. It's got that mystery and foreboding of an upcoming war that HBP has, but to a more gritty and gloomy extent.
Hermione says that "Everything's going to change now, isn't it?" to Harry and Ron at the end of Goblet of Fire and that really is the case with Order of the Phoenix, not only with the progression of the story and the development of characters but with the style of filmmaking too. Although each film does get darker, I see Goblet of Fire as the healthy transitional film between the wide-eyed, magical era of 1-3 and the dark, moody times of 5-7.
My order will change after I watch the film series again; it's really hard to organise them into an order because they all rely on each other's narrative structure to succeed not only as a film within the series, but as a film independent from the series. If that makes sense. But anyway, the films I've put on the same line aren't in any order on that line, it's just that I enjoyed them around the same in the context of watching the adapted story unfold.

Great post, Jonny.
Even though my order's different, I get what you're saying. I feel the same way.
Watching the series as one massive narrative is outstanding. Every film is different, yes, but they also connect with each other wonderfully.
I guess Deathly Hallows ~combined~ would be my favorite, but when you separate them into the two parts:
1. Deathly Hallows: Part 2 2. Order of the Phoenix 3. Deathly Hallows: Part 1 4. Prisoner of Azkaban/Half-Blood Prince 5. Sorcerer's Stone 6. Chamber of Secrets/Goblet of Fire
I almost don't want to include SS at all because it really is, in its own sort of way, "apart" from all the other films because of its classic and magical feel.
