Anyone else see it with an audience laughing at random moments?

I don't just mean parts which were unintentionally funny acting moments, though they did that as well. People seemed to just laugh randomly during normal non-jokey dialogue scenes. Made me feel like I missed half the movie, though I absolutely loved the half I didn't miss.

Yes, people were laughing and making orgasm noises during the scenes intercut between Harry and Voldemort after a Horcrux was destroyed or whatever.

Truthfully it's a fucking shocker that I was even able to like the film.

yeah, my audience cheered and laughed at the right parts, but then again were laughing at inappropriate parts (for example, voldemort getting weaker, voldemort getting up after the king's cross scene, and voldemort hugging draco)

Also, people seemed to NEED to vocalize every single thought they had. I can definitely understand doing that to an extent, but for me the level in the theater I was in was too much. Things like a loud deliberately annoying "WOAH!!" one single person made. Just.... don't do that.

Precisely why I avoided a midnight screening although it was hard for me to resist. Usually, I love love love all the hype and excitement, but this one.... This is just for me to enjoy and absorb.

I will probably see it again, just in case i do have a noisy audience or a crying kid or something.

Yeah. I wanted to avoid the midnight screening. I thought I had learned my lesson cause this has happened before, but I caved due to peer pressure and the fact that it was the last one.

I'm really lucky, I had a perfect audience. They didn't laugh at anything that wasn't meant to be laughed at.
  • My audience laughed at

Voldemort grinning and making those sounds whenever he was weakened,
McGonagall talking about how she always wanted to use that spell,
The Kiss (when Ron and Hermione giggled, so did the audience),
    Voldemort hugging Draco,
Voldemort slapping Lucius and pushing Bella down,
Neville going "that went well" and him mocking the snatchers

there were a few others but overall they weren't a bad audience.

For the record, I want to make it clear that I think laughing at the right funny parts is perfectly awesome. Don't want anyone to get the wrong idea.

    I loved my audience!
They were all genuine HP fans but were funny.
They groaned when Ginny came, laughed at Voldemort saying, "Potter is Dead' and just were great fun

My audience laughed at Voldemort, which made me angry. Fiennes' performance was great, and I wanted to appreciate it, but they almost seemed to mock it and not take it seriously. Just because he's laughing, doesn't mean you have to laugh. I wanted to appreciate why he was laughing. Not to mention there was some laughter as he was weakened as well, and laughter at other inappropriate moments. I think everyone was just a wee bit too excited.

My audienced laughed when Neville woke up and the burning DE flew away.
Also when Voldemort laughed in a very creepy way like "HEHE" LoL

My audience laughed during the epilogue. Not making fun of it but just seeing Rupert and Emma as parents made them smile. They did laugh at Voldemort hugging Draco which was a weird part but not humoris. Other than that they laughed, cheered, and cried at all tw right moments. Near perfect audience.
This is what a wasted moment looks like.

My audience was perfect, I've got nothing to complain.
Standing ovation at the end, so many people crying...

Yeah, I had a really good audience, but they did laugh at the "Potter is Dead" and Voldemort acting like a fool at that point. I think at some point when this is happening so often you have to blame the actor or the director for letting things get over the top rather than blame the audience for being inappropriate. Obviously you just didn't communicate the mood that should be communicated. IDK, I guess they figured after Harry's nod that we knew Harry was alive and they didn't need to be too serious there. But the last part of Neville's speech with Voldemort's evil laugh there (NOT overdone at that moment) when he pulls out the sword was awesome; wish the rest of it were that good and that they had cut the hug with Draco (the audience also laughed there). Basically, my audience was super! LOTS of great costumes! :)

I had a good audience this time (for once) as I stated in a previous post. However, I know the feeling of having an audience that will literally laugh at anything. It's so annoying.
  • mattStrelowmattStrelow Posts: 3,183 ✭✭✭✭✭
I'm really proud of the fact thay my audience cheered big time when Harry "relived" after Neville's speech. People stood up to yell and clap. Amazing

I had an amazing audience in the cinema i went to....everyone cheered and laughed at the right parts.....but the bits where voldemort got weaker and even when he died were deathly silent.....there was no inappropriate laughing...........I wouldn't have been impressed if they'd been cheering at that.....but instead it felt like the whole audience was holding its' breath. AMAZING NIGHT! :D

Voldemort's laugh, Voldemort's hug, when they crawl for their wands, Harry saying "It's mine now," along with all the other intentionally funny moments. Not to mention Snape's creepy eyes in the Prince's Tale ( as a kid), Fred's death...nearly ruined it.

My audience was OK. There were a lot of people getting up in the middle of the screening! That pissed me off. But, for me, the only inappropriate moment that they laughed was when Voldemort hugs Malfoy.

Some people laughed when Harry woke up at the King's Cross limbo scene. There was also this little girl talking in the phone with her mom when Snape died. Wanted to get up and bitch-slap her...

My midnight showing had laughers that would laugh at moments I thought were more serious. My IMAX 3D showing crowd was much better.

People in my midnight show laughed at this too. I didn't think it was funny at all. It was creepy. No one in my IMAX showing laughed at this scene.

A lot of people laughed at the Neville scenes.....like all the Neville scenes. That bugged me.

I went to IMAX in the afternoon and they did laugh very regularly. I did join them frequently but when they laughed at VOLDEMORT grinning, two were taking the biscuit

Was Neville waking up in slow motion meant to be comical though? Like slightly humorous or dramatic?
  • HinkypunkHinkypunk Posts: 385
My audience was great ! Thankfully. They only laughed at what was meant to be laughed at. It was appreciative laughter. I can honestly say they were stone quiet at everything that concerned Voldemort, they had either read the books or were mature enough to appreciate what was truly happening. Even Neville's " That went well " , was only met with a few very quiet murmured laughs.

People that laugh at the wrong places are just incredibly immature. It is not the fault of the filmmakers, it is people craving attention or not being able to handle what they are seeing.

I was very lucky. The only annoying thing was the guy behind me eating some kind of hard candy and kept shaking the box loudly . Ugh !

Honestly, we had more tears than laughter. Lots more.

Slightly humorous I think. He's just endured so much, his face makes the entire shot. And the death eater falling in slow motion behind him...Our whole theater cheered, laughed and clapped.

NO. Not at all. No one at my theatre laughed. We were too tense.

Some people laughed when Goyle fell into the fire and someone went 'ha' at the close-up of Lavender. :-S

Some people gasped in shock at Lavendar in my theater.
  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
People laughed when Nevelle woke up, but he did have a really weird expression on his face and there was a flaming death eater flying behind him in slow motion. It was slightly ridiculous. I thought they would spin around him during that moment and show the battle in the great hall.

I had a hyena girl laughing all the way through and a lot more people in the epilogue when I genuinely thought it was very emotional
  • [Deleted User][Deleted User] Posts: 7,344 ✭✭✭✭
People laughed at Draco in the epilogue. I don't know why. I thought they all looked great in the epilogue.
  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
Yeah people laughed all through the epilogue, but i sort of understand that. It was so weird.

Things that annoyed me when they laughed:

    When voldemort said "AVADA KEDAVRA"
    When Neville woke up
During Procession when the giant fell off
    IN NEVILLE'S FUCKING SPEECH

I had the exceptionally bizzare experience that I felt a good 40% of the people in the theater did not know what was happening. At a Premiere where supposedly only real HP "fans" (dressed up and all) attend, people where reacting to the film as if there was no book to spoil the whole plot. People stood up and missed part of the Epilogue. It was a weird crows. I hope tomorrows people are more in tune with the series.
  • seamusseamus Posts: 1,126 ✭✭✭
My audience was also great, some of us even clapped at the end, what was my first experience of some kind of this. However, the audience laughed a lot, for example:
    Hermione/Bellatrix in the Gringotts
    Voldemort hugging Draco
    Voldemort laughing (HEHE)
McGonagall´s "I always wanted to use that spell"
When Neville woke up and the burning DE flew away
Neville speech in front of the Snatchers
    Lucius´ "I don´t know" in a boathouse
    Epilogue (and mainly Draco)
and what I didn´t understand, they laughed also at the long shot of the staircase :/
