"I’ve not been a fan of Yates, a TV veteran who took over with episode five, but give the man credit: He more than lives up to the challenge of the memorable series ender. The acting is uniformly superb — better than in, say, “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers” — especially Alan Rickman as the morally ambiguous Snape, who deserves an Oscar for his exemplary work here."
^ Quoted from one of the NY Critics, If he gave the movie a 4/4...that's saying something...
~I have NOT read the Potter books, only watched the movies FYI.
I never imagined reception as amazing(magical) as this! I thought some critics wouldn't like it because it had action throughout... But this is pretty incredible.
This is better than I could have imagined! And the only "negative" reviews on RT, (which are mixed, counted as rotten) Are from the same site! And RT said on twitter that it is likely to be the highest rated Potter film.
"Like I said above, this isn’t a bad movie, just a disappointing one for this fan. I understand books and films are different mediums, but I fail to understand how some of these decisions were reached since most of the glossed over stuff is extremely cinematic in nature.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is a decent close, with many characters getting one good final moment, but it’s about half of the emotional punch I expected and less than what this amazing series and these fantastic characters deserved."

To be honest Im more worried about reviews from fans than I am the rest. I really don't wanna hear any purist B****ing.
"If you make yourself more than just a man... If you devote yourself to an ideal... You become something else entirely- A Legend."
Yeah, I think most, if not all of the negative fan response is coming from those who expected a carbon copy of the book. This film will have the most liberties and will be the most different from the book.
A think that I like in this film is that it seems to expose very well the power of the teacher over the vulnerability of the students (Lavender death, The cries when Voldemort invades the minds, the dead bodies of children)
Well he still said it was a good movie. It can be counted as mixed perhaps here but if it were to go on RT I'd still count it as positive. But is that even really a review though? It's more like an opinion piece on why he thought it could've been better rather than a review. But I don't know. It feels like he would have given it 3 stars if it grade based. I can't consider something a worthy review when basically all he does is complain about how different he is from the book. He mentions an exit poll said non book fans liked it more than he did, but then goes on to say he cant imagine them being completely satisfied? What??
In terms of how it will affect my personal enjoyment, not at all. I've learned to stop caring about changes to the books in the movies and stop listening to those who effusively complain about them. I purposefully have kept myself from reading DH again because I don't want thoughts of the book spoiling my enjoyment of the movie. In any case, I already know what most of the changes are.
it doesn't affect me but it's kind of sucks because he's loved the entire series but the aintitcool guys have a bunch of different reviewers so more will come out in the next few days and those will probably be more positive and no this definitely was a review aintitcool always writes reviews like that
i just made this comment on imdb, gotta post here:
UPDATED Tue Jul 12 2011 15:49:01 it seems like the "disappointed" comments are coming from ppl who didnt get themselves prepared for the changes
and more important, expected a movie focused in the battle of hogwarts, getting a different point of view compared to the books, but still hoping for the greatest fight moments from it.
i have seem ppl complain things like "we dont see fred, lupin, tonks die", "the battle is a background battle".
This is the problem of overusing the word "epic", when ppl think of epic, they only see LotR scale battles before their eyes.
but from what i have read and what i expect, DH2 is a totally new kind of epic, its more about Harry's struggle, and his epiphany...
by the aint it cool review, looks like we stay with harry the whole time in this movie, if its true, its the best i could have ever expected.
what i always loved the most about deathly hallows was harry's focus at the end of the book, how we could feel everything he did, his despair, his rush, his epiphany, the revelations that he is in for, everything what happens to him in those pages. Its a rollercoaster of emotions for one character alone, and you feel it all while you are with him.
to be honest, i dont really care about molly vs bellatrix, or even ron's and hermione's kiss...the only thing that makes me sad is the movie break voldemort's and bellatrix's last moments, but i have known this since the pre-screening.
if they do it right with harry, snape and voldemort, it will be amazing, they are my fave characters after all(you gotta love snape imo). This might be exacly why the movie is getting awesome reviews from top critics, its because if they get Harry's moments right, this movie will be something totally different from anything we have ever seen. The battle is meant to be a background if you stop to think, after all the storyline focuses on a character that needs to stay hidden and rushing for the most part.
it would be way worse if it was all about the battle and they did harry's, snape's and voldemort's moments no justice. Battles you can see in any blockbuster movie nowadays, now character depth and emotion driven moments, only one series has. And this is easily one of the points where Harry Potter trumphs against LotR as a history.
i guess that each fan has their way of loving the books, and what makes DH my favorite book is exacly this, the last moments, when you really feel like you have stayed with harry until the very end.
