I've got to say that while I didn't read over 1000 comments through or even half of the reviews, I am really overwhelmed and pleased by the reception. I am aching for Part 2 to stay above the 90% range, and while I've said that my ideal is 93% - 94% I do think it might end up in the 80s. But I am yearning to be proven wrong. Bring on more positives, please.
Well, not quite a rave, they spend an entire paragraph talking about the small imperfections of the film. They must not think them to be very major, though, as they gave the film 5 stars...
And once again, another comparison to Helm's Deep (this one saying it isn't as brutal as the latter.)
OK people long time no see! Thing is what really matters on rottentomatoes is not the fresh-rotten % but the average rating over 10 posted in below the fresh-rotten %. For example if all 200 critics loved the movie but all of them thought the movie deserved a mere 3/5, the average score would be 6/10 which is lower than say the last F&F movie and not impressive at all, yet the fresh-rotten % would show a 100% approval rating which is misleading!!!! So I think it is the average rating we should be worried about which, BTW, follows the same system as metacritic. The last 2 potter movies have 7.1s and POA and GOF have 7.8 and 7.4 respectively. Many movie having a rating of 7.7~7.8 get Best Picture noms with the right amount of buzz!!!
Thanks so much for saying exactly what I wanted to say, but was just lazy to do. A lot of posters here were giving too much importance to the Tomatometer, which is practically a "consensus-meter" showing how many critics are in agreement regarding a certain movie, but has zero relevance as a measure of how much the critics liked a movie and would consider it awards worthy.
To add to what you said, last year, which was an exceptionally good year for film, the lowest rated films that were nominated for Best Picture were The Fighter and The Kids and Allright, with 7.9/10 each. In an average year, anything above 7.4-7.5 has a shot. But animated, fantasy, sci-fi and horror films need more than that due to the genre bias. I think, with the slight advantage that DH2 has (being the last of a respectable series and going out in style), 7.7-7.8 might do. It will all depend on how strong the year is though. Currently, there are two movies that will very probably end up in Best Picture: The Tree of Life (8.1/10) and Midnight in Paris (7.9/10). But any year's greatest movies are usually released towards the year's end. We'll just have to wait and see. It really is too early to say anything for DH2. In my opinion it's less likely than many people seem to think, but it's possible. I'd say it has a 40% chance right now.
Dude guys, I already mentioned this about RT more then once. However, we're sitting at 8.3 average right now which is pretty damn good!
It's up to 38 reviews and still a 8.3 rating!!! 1 thing's for sure... it'll never go below 7.5 now hah! That means it will be either the highest or 2nd highest rated potter film on the site!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
That Urban Cinefile guy gave Season of the Witch a Freash review. Can't he act like a professional reviewer? After that, I'm sure they gave it a Rotten Tomato to get more visitors to their website. That's disgusting.
Piling in the page hits aren't they now? Fuckers....
They probably got more traffic than they could even dream of.
And that's why many critics are douches getting views. Who's going to view the website of someone who gives it a positive review? like Toy Story 3, when there are like 3 or whatever it was negative reviews, those are going to get looked at, not the 150+ positive ones.
"An emotional rollercoaster, the film captures everything we love about the Harry Potter series and some. Part II is as beguiling as its written brethren, and fans worldwide will be delighted with the accuracy of its content. Furthermore, despite its global appeal, Part II manages to keep its esoteric feel thanks to a number of ‘in’ jokes and humorous anecdotes, and Potter’s homely feel is extended through its touching finale, with him waving goodbye to his own child, Albus Severus Potter, some 19 years later.
It’s sad to think this is the end but, thanks to the talent, direction and production value of this release, you can be sure of a fond and enjoyable farewell. Now, if you will excuse me, I seem to have something in my eye..."
Hey, I'm a guy, and have never cried in a movie (only lump in throat) but I'm not holding it in thursday night. After 10 years with these films they can vouch for me.

This website makes analisys from the reviews. And it counts the Newsday one as the is "Good(Not Great)"
So.. I'm counting that one as positive, as a 3/5 as it is 2.5/4 ok?
