Congrats!
When I applied to the theater I still work at 4 and a half years ago I applied only for the usher position because I didn't want to have to deal with customers money and I was afraid of messing up their food and using a register but they told me everyone gets all shifts so I ended up having to do concession as well.
For the first year I was off 1 - 5 dollars almost every time I had a concession shift, it was always embarrassing though I didn't get that shift that often so it usually ended up being alright. The managers at my theater are pretty lenient as long as you can remember what you did wrong and can explain what happened. It should be noted though that I never got a box office shift because I suspect they didn't trust me with that much money. To get better at it I started practicing without ringing anything up and during transactions just made sure to count all the money that came into contact with my hands, even if it's just 2 or 3 dollars or if there isn't any change to give back and that worked pretty well. Now for the past 2 or 3 years now I'm never off when I sell concession items, I don't make mistakes and they let me take over the box office ticket sales if the person working it has to go on a break. Presently I'm a fast, thorough usher so I hardly get concession shifts anymore. Officially everyone does all shifts, but unofficially they give people the shifts they're best at. I've still never been given a box office shift, either because I'm a boring person for the manager who also works in box to talk to or I suspect just out of habit of the manager that makes the schedule, but I don't really mind. Cleaning theaters makes the day go by faster anyways, and each shift gets paid the same.
Sorry Kranen, my interview was so long ago I don't really remember what they asked for my interview other than the standard "What are you favorite movies?". Good luck!
I would've loved to work at a cinema when i was younger, lol. Instead I was at Topshop 8-|
Topshop is a high street fashion store across the UK.
Where abouts are you?
