Procreation of House elves

Did anyone ever wonder how they got new house elves? I can't remember seeing it in any of the books (or maybe I missed it). They do die eventually as seen in Grimuald Place but I wonder how they get replacement ones. Can you imagine Kreacher as a baby? :-))

I imagine they can reproduce and create fertile offspring like any member of the mammalian class...wait, are they mammals?

hahahahaha... God gave them those big ears for a reason... He doesn't want them to reproduce.
