Yes, another Jersey Shore cast member will continue to mug for the camera on television. I'm not sure I disagree with this in concept - Jersey Shore, once at least acceptable for its sheer insanity, has been becoming a bit too stale, and I think that's because the cast is starting to lose some of their dynamic, so separating them may highlight the nuttiness of their respective characters without the others mugging for the spotlight - but, again, do we still need Jersey Shore? We communicate through our interest in their insanity, even if we despise the show: and that translates into ratings.

    We never needed Jersey Shore.

It was never anything more than a more drunken dumbed down version of the Real World except it is all people from New York or New Jersey and there is nothing interesting about these people.

Well, many people doubtless invest in reality television for the funhouse spectacle of it. When I said "Do we still need Jersey shore?", I was talking about whether or not the strength of that little fix of ours isn't becoming somewhat dulled due to the post-JS oversaturation of these types of shows.

I know why people watch. I find myself with it on simply because my wife enjoys mindless tv after a long day with a baby. There is so much shit like this on tv that a show like this is really not needed.

Exactly, and that ties into the mentality that allows the central concept of these shows to proliferate further on television. Myself, I'm merely speculating on whether that proliferation is dulling the response that the target demographics have to this material...or whether they simply want it in other, similarly digestible forms.
