Overall, PS3 has better games, but Wii is extremely fun and has more fun gameplay. I've never played LEGO HP, so I don't know how that fares well. If you like intense war games (COD, BioShock, Halo) then get PS3 or XBOX 360. If you like classic games (Mario Kart, Sports, Carnival Games, Harry Potter) than get Wii. HP is unique on Wii in that you use the Wiimote as a wand. It's pretty cool.
PS3 has a much better selection of titles, however the great games on the Wii shouldn't be missed either, like Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Donkey Kong Country Returns, the upcoming Zelda: Skyward Sword-- and not to mention all of the Virtual Console titles that are available through the Wii Shop channel.
But, in general, PS3 has a much larger selection of games. They're both good with their own strengths, but I would have to lean toward PS3.
well im like in a tight spot. i love classic games more than those war games. and i love how we can use the remote as wands but the ps3 will have better graphics. Also if i get it at target the ps3 will have a blu ray of SS and the wii will have a dvd.
I've always been a Nintendo fan also, but I don't know, the Wii is just not fun to play for me. I have a PS3 and so far I have no complains about it, so I'd suggest you to buy one of those.

Microsoft dropped the ball and failed hard.
That is what we have is a Wii. I can not give you comparisons though, because I've only ever owned Nintendo.
