Ha! Well, back on topic, I am sure we will be blown away by the battle. I definitely got the impression from listening to other interviews than this one that they have outdone themselves.

^More than LotR: The Return of the King. I hope that the Battle of Hogwarts sets up a new standard for epic battles in general. :D

im sorry but given that yates style thus far for action sequences has been meh meh i refuse to get my hopes up thinking the battle will be epic. 30 minutes tops from the time voldermort destroys the protections to his death.

I don't think that entire section will be 30 minutes (God help us if it is that short), but I'm more convinced it'll be OKhere'ssomefightingokaydone then they'll spend 45 minutes on the "inbetween battle time" then it'll be a minute or two of quick fighting then it'll be over.
  • [Deleted User][Deleted User] Posts: 3,605 ✭✭
    it will be 45 mins

Somebody find a link, it's been confirmed that the battle will be most of the movie

This is quote from the interview:

"One of the key scenes in the series happens in this room, where towards the end of ['Deathly Hallows'], Harry learns something about Snape's past in relation to him, and that takes place in this room. In fact, actually, it takes place pretty much here," he said, motioning to where he was standing. "And that is kind of pretty much possibly the key scene in the series, you might say. There's a certain argument for that."

Maybe Daniel meant that the "key scene" is when he finds out he is a horcrux in Dumbledore and Snape's conversation in the office. I think pretty much that most happen in the office except for the beginning of the memory but the last set of memories happens mostly in Dumbledore's office. So no worries :)

let´s hope so!! realy...i want the prince´s tale to be perfect :D
I think he just meant that it's the room where he watches the memories. I don't think he was talking about the locations within the memories themselves--no worries! Not that we know for sure whether some of the memories will be left out, but there isn't much they CAN leave out of the Prince's Tale. I just hope it's easy to follow and not like the flashy visions in DH1.... I assume it'll be in much the same format of the memories in HBP.
yes i think the same thing about the format of the memories, kind of like smooky ones...anyway like u said theres almost nothing to left out. and young sirius, lily and snape are casted so we just have to wait to hear if young petunia and james are as well then we can be sure what´s in or whats not in

but if u ask me, i think james is in, it would be rare if they cadt sirius but not james, because james is more imoprtant haha
and about petunia, i dont know, lickily well have her as well

yes!! im sure it will be, at least one hour!! IMO and rabastan u are soo right, they must make it amazing it´s the final one!!

about TROTK battle at minas tiright...hmmm i dont know...for me it´s like the most epic thing ever done! it´s hard, but let´s hope we can match that!! besides, those are 2 diferent kind of battles, and is u ask me, a wand battle (u now spells everywhere) has never be seen before, so i think it will definitely create something to talk about, it´ll be something new!

And avatar battle was just ok, great effects, but still not as epic as TROTK...

    It's going to be epic.

The first half of the battle, without the Room of Requirement/Chamber of Secrets, will be 20 minutes long and the second half of the battle, excluding Harry VS Voldemort, will be another bunch of 15 minutes, I think. Add Harry VS Voldemort, the destruction of the castle's protections, the preparations for the battle, Snape's flight, Chamber of Secrets, Room of Requirement, Gringotts, Hogsmeade chase etc. and we'll have the most action-packed film of the series, by far.
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
The hogsmeade chase will only be like 30 seconds lol
  • NickNick Posts: 20,653 ✭✭✭✭✭
i think they should cut out the hogsmede chase all together

Well that wouldn't be very helpful at all, as to how the hell they could get to Hogwarts... now would it? and i'm fairly sure (on the brink of certain) that we'll never see the invisibility cloak in action ever again, therefore... Voldy will see him straight away and ruin the whole thing all together, however... i'm also almost sure about that we will see the "Why do you live" in place of the whole (talking) confrontation between them, just the calm before the storm!

    Lord Stafford.

If they cut it, then what is the purpose of them going to Hogwarts through Abeforth's pub? They cut it, and it just shows that they can calmly walk into Hogwarts through the front gate, you know, since there's nothing threatening them.

Exactly, Jason... that is precisely what i was trying to say, along with many other things, lol! :-))

hmmm good point i never thought of that and as far as the invisibility cloak. if its not in harry,s posession then he wouldnt be master of death as you need all 3 hallows to conquer death. if they dont use the cloak the whole plot of the movie falls apart. at some point they will NEED to show the cloak.
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
Im certain they show it atleast.

They need to show it when 'Dead' Harry gets up and runs around the battle after Neville's BAMF moment. They can't have Harry get up from behind Voldemort and run away while making us believe nobody saw him.

It would also give them an excuse to not focus on Harry and focus on the action of the 2nd part of the Battle since we can't see him(I'm pretty sure this is what they will do).

Also, when Molly kills Bellatrix and Voldemort is about to attack Molly(if they keep that), Harry can surprise 'us' and the characters by using Protego and appearing alive to everyone including Voldemort.

    I hope youre right.

The fact that Harry was "master of death is not important to the actual plot.
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
Well thats the way he defeats Voldy no?

And because the horcruxes are gone

He did defeat Voldemort because he had ownership over the Elder Wand, but the fact that he had all 3 Hallows does not contain much signifigance in terms of the plot. There are lots of fans who think that Harry survived the forest confrontation because he had all 3 Hallows which is not true.
  • JasonJason Posts: 7,279 ✭✭✭✭✭
Even if they don't have the Invisibility cloak, he is still the Master of Death if he uses the stone and wand, since he used the cloak in the past.

  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
but the title is DEATHLY HALLOWS so they should all be shown and explained..
  • aaronaaron Posts: 20,950 mod
They will show the Cloak, and they will also use it, but Harry won't use it to walk to his death.

    I hope your wrong. lol.
  • aaronaaron Posts: 20,950 mod
For cinematic adaptation, Harry won't use it. It would just look weird. We already see him walking without the cloak to Voldemort. I mean, they could do it. I just don't think they will.

Are you talking to me? Because I said this:

An idea just hit me that is kind of off-topic. You know how Wormtail didn't die in Part 2, and in the trailer(June 2010) we hear someone who sounds like Wormtail tell Voldemort in the woods that "There's no sign of him". Well what if during the 2nd part of the Battle where Harry is suppose to be 'dead', Harry takes his cloak off at one point and Wormtail finds him. And when he sees him, he grabs his throat and basically follows what happened Malfoy Manor(book). Like he start to attack him while Harry tells him he owes him, and then he kills himself.

I don't know, just something I was thinking about. :P

im almost positive they will use the cloak for the gringotts sequence because polyjuice potion is only for human transformation and griphook is not human so they will need to conceal him somehow and the cloak fits that purpose
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
Yes nick i think they will

There are three scenes in which they could use the clock (the rest we have already known that they will not use it):

    In Gringotts
While they are searching Snape and Voldemort
Before he uses the resurrection stone (he is walking, when the death eaters go to the forbidden forest he takes it out and uses the stone)
