I have the world's worst luck. (Need Technical Help)
My bad luck is just something that has been forming over the past few months, like getting stuck in horrible traffic jams every weekend or the fact that the only Part 2 blu-rays left at Target were a little ruined on their slip covers.
But now it is just out of control.
Me and my sister sat down a few hours ago to watch Part 2 on our Sony Blu-ray player (Model BD-S580.) We inserted the blu-ray disc to watch the film. It played fine, and around the 8-minute mark, during Harry's conversation with Ollivander, it begin slipping up and paused in between each frame for a bit. Then it paused completely while noises issued from the BD player. We stopped the disc and ejected it. Tried replaying it, only now it would not read any of the discs at all.
My Part 2 blu-ray discs do not work, but the DVD DOES work (the one that came included in the combo pack.) It's the most fucked up thing. I also tried playing Transformers 3 blu-ray, and it works completely fine. I have a few other blu-ray discs which I will try in the morning but the fact is the last time I watched a blu-ray was last weekend and it worked just fine. Part 2 discs, for some reason, are not compatible. It comes up with the error message "Cannot Read Disc" or something. And I spent hours trying to figure out the problem, almost breaking down into tears. I tried every troubleshooting method, tried inserting a USB to give it more space, clearing my previous BD Live content, making sure the Easy Setup was complete, cleaning the disc and the tray itself. I have the latest firmware update too. It makes NO FUCKING SENSE.
So yeah, I was nearly on the verge of tears and was super fed up. This is a new player, btw, I just got it in August. I am planning to see if LOTR plays on my blu-ray player tomorrow, as I haven't tried it yet and was super excited to watch it. I guess I won't be watching it anymore, which will spoil my whole weekend. And likely, I will have to call and see if I can get it fixed, which will cost a ton of shit.
Some technical help or condolences would really be appreciated. I'm just so fucking fed up right now, and really stressed out. Technical problems are the death of me; I hate them so much, and this beautiful Part 2 blu-ray experience has now been ruined, and this BD problem has thus ruined my weekend.

BTW, I have no idea whether this is the problem of Part 2 or the BD player. I think it is the player's fault, though, because I've done some research online and some consensus is that some Sony players have trouble reading random blu-rays, and there is no pattern to it whatsoever. And virtually no way to fix it. So fuck my life.

P.S. Traffic sucks, I've been living in a construction zone for over 14 months with no end in site, so I feel for you.
As for the DVD working, you don't need firmware updates for DVDs to work. BDs have different encryption and they change continuously.
So Crucify the ego, before it's far too late, to leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical. And you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.
You have a Sony BD player, so just choose to perform a network update.
I saw your post at the Blu-ray forum.
