If these videos were trying to be even remotely funny or clever, they missed the mark. Half Blood Prince's intro is great for very different stylistic and emotional reasons - and what makes it great is not even represented well in any of these videos, in my humble opinion. The PoA one is the worst and makes absolutely no sense.

I think it was meant to be a tribute to an outstanding opening scene. So no, in that regard, he/she did not miss the mark.
However, they did miss the mark on the fact that tonally, a lot of those don't fit. Like the POA one. And what makes the openings to Yates's movies so strong is that they are all very different. They don't stick to some formula. What made HBP opening so great was that it was actually relevant to the main character relationship in the movie.
I'd have liked a full Potter's death scene opening Philosopher's Stone.
I don't mind the way we see it in PS, as it has a sense of saying that we will see more of it in the latters. It's a shame that we got what we did in Part 1 and 2.
I said this a lot in past reboot discussion, but I would LOVE the first scene of PS in a reboot to be the Potter's Death.
I would love that too, but just as long as they didn't show everything. It would be great if they showed us just certain bits at the start of PS, and then gradually show us more as the movies go on, revealing all of it in the last movie.
It's strange that they went to the trouble of re-filming the Potter's death scene for Part 2 and yet reused shots from PS for their actual death.
Are you sure they filmed the Potter's death? It looks like they only filmed for the Prince's Tale.
Even so, I'm sure they could have filmed the death easily. I suppose they simply did not want to or wanted to keep the flow between the two films? Who knows, but I'm sure they probably discussed it at one time or another and decided against it.

Something they should have done, yes.
Lord Stafford.
Maybe it wouldn't have worked. Just because we can visualize something doesn't mean it would have worked. But hey, you never know! It'll always be something I wish I could see, but oh well.
Now I'm thinking of a possible score that Desplat could have put with that and want it more than ever!

Well, there is always a way to make something work, no matter what it is.
They're good vids. The Philosopher's Stone one is the best, I don't really like that the rest of them are all 'Previously in Harry Potter!' But The Order of the Phoenix one was fairly good.

lololol I agree with Lukey.
I loved the PS/SS and COS ones but they began to become a little too repetitive for me -_-
DH1 is my favorite overall ending. By that, I mean Dobby's death and burial + Voldemort stealing the elder wand. It turns from the melancholy tone of Dobby's death to a foreboding one with Voldemort stealing the Elder Wand.

My fave HP ending is COS but Yates best ending is DH1, with Voldemort at the White Tomb just such a good taster for DH2
