Hopefully this earns Fincher a Best Director Oscar.

So Crucify the ego, before it's far too late, to leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical. And you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.
I love these books<3 but i have already seen this movie..the swedish version. :-? </p>
Fincher will make it his own, with far greater cinematography and direction. I like the Swedish version too, but I think Fincher's version will be better.
Plus the film's writer is the guy who did Schindler's List and Gangs of New York. It's almost guaranteed to be good given who has worked on it.

Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross Such an amazing set of musical geniuses.
Im sure most here have seen The Social Network...the music in that too is astounding. Plus Ive always been a huge NIN fan so of course Ill like anything Reznor does haha.
Apparently, some segments of the story have been reworked by Fincher and his screenwriter (most notably of all, the third act and its ending), which intrigues me because I thought the book upon which this is based was terrible. Let's see what Fincher brings to the table: can he transcend source material that, in my opinion, is mediocre?
Very true, but since this is a more centralized source material to adhere to (for The Social Network, they did take inspiration from a literary source about Facebook, which didn't even have the support of Zuckerberg, but what made that movie sing was more or less Sorkin's dialogue, contextualized in actual events without actually being from them), which begs the question: aside from what we know, will Fincher be making additional changes to differentiate his take from the book's core narrative? How strongly is his screenwriter willing to chop the book up and recreate something with their own creative stamp?

I also think it will be good. I guess my only problem is that in my mind I see the swedish actor and actress as Mikael and Lisbeth.

Wow! Looks like Fincher at his finest--a brilliant, mysterious contemporary drama. I haven't read the book but I will surely be seeing this. This will surely get huge cinematography nominations and/or wins, maybe even score (even the trailer score sounds like Reznor/Ross) and who knows? This might be one to lookout for a Best Picture nom. Maybe even Rooney Mara for Actress? We'll see.
I couldn't disagree more. Why do you think that?? I mean.. Maybe The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest are indeed generic and not as good as the first one. But the first one has a great pace, great acting (Noomi Rapace is amazing), a great cinematography. I mean.. It's not remarkable and memorable, but is indeed a good and well-made movie.
