But have you noticed that all the so-called "good" discussions, the one with real meaty analysis, maybe some heated discussion and lots of quoting--always begin with general degrading posts about the film? It's because competent people somehow always find it easier to write big long posts about all the things they dislike about the film, when they can't find anything good to say about it. Honestly, apart from the initial reactions, nobody's written huge long paragraphs about all the brilliant scenes in the film, just how they miss the battle and all that.

Decided to log-in because I had the site open on my phone still and saw some comments. So I wanted to address some of them:

-I have nothing against people disagreeing with my opinions-- I'm out because of how every tiny thing seems to spawn a bunch of "fuck Yates, fuck WB, fuck Pottermore, fuck Rowling, fuck grass" comments. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with people having differing opinions than my own.

-aaron's point is right on the nose: they made a beautiful film but all people here can do is pile on the comments about how this and that sucked, how Yates didn't do his job, practically everything is drowned in negativity and it leads to a serious case of believing that people are going out of their way to be negative and it feels incredibly silly and immature.

-PumpkinJuice, I don't know what kind of grudge you have against me, sure we've butted heads before, but I never once went to sleep at night cursing your name. You have it in the back of your mind that I'm just all smiles and sunshine and love everything, and have problems when people disagree with me, but as I pointed out above, it has more to do with the fact that HPF, in general, is just one large cesspool of negativity.

-even beyond the negativity, all I find when I log in are a compilation of useless threads full of in-jokes that only people in chat care about, 20 or so "come to chat" threads, someone making a thread about being pissed off at another member for sharing paparazzi photos of a celebrity, and so on. There are good discussions here, but as aaron pointed out, it takes a while to sift through the bullshit to find them.

I don't have anything personal against anyone, not even PumpkinJuice or anyone else I've confronted in a heated manner in the past. I'm not leaving the forum because I can't stand people disagreeing with me. I'm not leaving the forum because I can't handle negativity. I'm leaving the forum because it's much different, in the worst ways possible, than what it was when I first enlisted-- and I thank you richard for making that happen and for, all too briefly, giving me a decent place to talk about Harry Potter and to be excited for the remaining films.

We WILL run out of Potter stuff to talk about, at least when it comes to the movies. It's normal. Wouldn't it be pointless for everyone to be talking the same things over and over and over? It's already happening with some subjects.
I agree that there are many pointless threads, and many people complaining too much. I have't been here to see how the forum was before though, and I don't hate it this way.... Maybe if JKR will release a Harry Potter Encyclopedia we'll once again have more stuff to talk about, but till then, we deal with it. We don't have much to look forward to.

That used to be the level of awesomeness of this place. You can well imagine my love for the site when I had to sift through pages after pages, starting from the first page itself sometimes, through tons of signature and comments, trying to find that comment that I last saw , because I wanted to read all the new comments that had been posted since then. It took a real effort and will power to do that, day after day, night after night for almost a whole bloody year, BECAUSE I LOVED THIS PLACE. Sure there was Coon and some occasional fighting and trolling, but not at the level of whatever we see today. Yes we don't have any new films or books to look forward too, so the Potter-related threads would get lesser and lesser, but surely what's the need of threads like Mayo and What I think about Emma Watson and To my dearest Abhi and a chat thread on every page? We could have an official chat thread as an announcement, and all the threads that result out of chat as a single thread. And I have nothing against people voicing their opinions against Yates/WB/Battle or any other thing. Make one thread about it and be done with it. You know what? You would have felt bad too if you had seen this place back then. Something just doesn't seem right. HarryJamesPotter left before I was a member, same with thisishogwarts, dashape80. Now Kranen is unsure about coming here and today Darthorcrux gets added to the list too. I dont know about the first 2, but Kranen and Darthorcrux had nearly the same complaint, and we can't pretend that some more of the senior members would not leave in the near future or at least think about it.
