Expelliarmus! Reducto! Avada Kedavra! We will never again hear these magical words uttered from the mouths of amazing witches and wizards. We will never again feel the tension as Harry faces off against innumerable odds, as he duels, one on one, with the dark lord, Voldemort. The mystical and wonderful Harry Potter series has come to a most unfortunate end.
In the summer of 1997, an author by the name of J.K. Rowling gave the world an incredible and unheard of world that followed the adventures of a young wizard, Harry Potter. Potter fever spread like wildfire, affecting kids and adults alike. From books to the big screen, merchandise to video games, Harry Potter became an icon, people around the world fell in love with the miraculous wizard and his two wizarding friends.
“Harry Potter, to me, taught me that it’s not about how powerful you are. It’s about the person that you are inside and what you think you can do. Also love conquers all,” says senior Katelyn Garcia.
What started out as a supernatural fairytale written on a napkin in a train by a woman in financial crisis, turned into an epic series that taught people life lessons. The characters came to life and grew into something deeper and more human than J.K. Rowling could have ever imagined.
Senior Taylor Jephcote was also able to take something away from the series that gave her a new perspective on life. “It taught me that you can overcome any obstacle in your way, and it showed me that if you affect people positively then they can help you out later in life,” she states.
Jephcote, who has seen every single Harry Potter movie on the midnight premiere, is one of the many die hard fans across the world. But what is it about the wizarding series that hooked us all so quickly?
Sophomore Carlo Cabanes thinks it’s the fascination the world has with magic. “It’s because it’s so convenient, and you can use it to do anything, solve any problem, and it’s just fun!”
But what will be the next Harry Potter? What will be the next series to take the world by storm? Some reviewers think the series The Hunger Games will be able to fill the void that Harry Potter left. The 1st movie in the series comes out in March. However, this is one possibility as one cannot possibly predict when the next literary phenomenon will come out because Harry Potter came out of nowhere.
We can only sit, wait, and mourn the passing of the magical series. Harry Potter is gone with our childhood and memories of the world J.K. Rowling created.
The ending was epic, and the climax was satisfying, for this once in a lifetime sequence of books and movies. Many will miss the lightning scarred hero, but he lives on in our imagination forever.

So true^ We only need pick up the books or turn on the movies...they will always be there.
