I remember my first Earthquake. It was 3am, and I hid under my desk for an hour because I thought there was a poltergeist attacking me.
Mine was at a similar time of day (night). I woke up and watched the closet doors, which were mirrors, bend and flex. Was very disorienting. Thought I was having an episode of vertigo. Went right back to sleep though. Wasn't everything I was hoping it would be. Sounds strange but it didnt live up to my expectations.
With an earthquake of that magnitude the aftershocks will probably be minimal in size. Much less than a 4.0 and they aren't very noticeable. Luckily there doesn't seem to be any significant damage.
The scary part is that buildings on the East Coast aren't generally rated for earthquakes so they dont know how they will react under that kind of stress.

Luckily everyone is okay.
Well, that's pretty strong. You would think the buildings would be adapted for earthquakes if the position were on plate boundries and yes, thank god everyone is okay. Another world disaster this year would have brought me to tears, lol
This is how the 2012 film began...with earthquakes. What's scary as hell is that there have been huge (8.0 +) earthquakes around the Pacific Rim (Japan, California) so the next huge one is scheduled to be the northwest USA--a.k.a. where I live.

5.9 is fairly big. Dunno why but I thought it was closer to 5 than that. The aftershocks for even a 6 are generally not too bad. If the 5.9 didn't do anything then the aftershocks are not likely too either.
They may have some safety ratings on the East Coast for quakes but chances are they aren't very high or they are non existent. The frequency of earthquakes in that park of the world is just not high enough to warrant it.
Oh my god! I felt it! I live 15 minutes from NYC and my relative who has an auto-body shop called afterwards. All the news have it on special report. It was awesome, tbh.
Since people are talking about earthquake situations.. I've experienced like 4, I think :-? First time, I was in 6th grade I think... I was so scared I started crying When I was little I always thought earthquakes must be fun because you swing from side to side....... lol now they terrify me

Yeah, Im in CA and we're due for another big one. I'm terrified of them :-S
I live in the boring UK where the only weather we experience is rain, and lots of it. So an earthquake would have been AWESOME. I mean, awesome in a scary way, like riding a massive rollercoaster that makes you want to pee your pants a little but when you get off you race right back around to go on again...

) I remember when I was in primary school we had some thunder and lightning and some rain and everyone thought the school was going to get flooded because some water came in the door lol )
I remember my first earthquake. By the time I even realized what was going on it was over. I just sat there eating my Lucky Charms and watching Hey Arnold.
Pfff do you live 10 minutes away from the beach they used to film Shell Cottage scenes? Did they build the actual Shell Cottage right next to where you work in Scotland? Nuh uhh, and that is why Wales is better.

I didn't feel anything! Me and my mom knew something was going on because the phones weren't working, then we saw there had been an earthquake. We're used to them, because we used to live in Mexico and we would get some good ones. Haha, I still remember my very first earthquake.
