Warner Bros Will Invest heavily to promote Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 in Oscars.

Variety reported on a new article this morning that Warner will invest heavily to promote Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 Oscar in 2012. The Harry Potter series, which has evolved technically and visibly every prestigious film has never been in the gym and Warner believes that 2012 will be the year for this not be repeated.

According to the article itself, Warner wants to base his campaign on the Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King which won 11 Academy Awards including "Best Film". Variety keeps saying that Warner hopes that the academy recognizes the success of the eight films, all made with great dedication by the team of professionals.

Let's hope that near the end of the year when the campaigns for the Oscar should start, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 comes with everything and is finally given an Oscar for "Best Movie", the most recognized academy . Positive reviews for this film has. According to the website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has 96% of its positive reviews.

DH2 is so not winning Best Picture, BUT, with heavy campaign and with all these incredibly positive reviews and with the definite support from the British members of the Academy, a nomination is not impossible!

DH2 deserves the nomination for art direction, cinematography, score and make up. Of course, it'll be wonderful to get nominated for Best Picture as well (now I wish the academy still have that 10 pictures nomination rules)

I also hope Alan will get nomination for supporting actor. I'll be the happiest gal in the world, if that happened.

I think it will get a BP nom. Probs wont win, but the 100%/8.8 average among top critics will help, not to mention a 93 bfca score.

Imo it deserves BP, and DEFINITELY a special honorary award thing. As a huge LOTR fan as well, I thought DH2 was a better conclusion, to the series, and perhaps even a better film, for several reasons of which I will not get into.

I was just reading reactions from the Rise of Planet of the Apes movie, I think that will be the "dark horse" blockbuster of this year. I can see it taking the VFX win from Potter, even if Potter was just as good.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes has solid reviews until now, but it's early days yet. If it's a dark horse, then Potter is a sure bet. Don't underestimate WB's campaign strategy, Potter's worldwide phenomenon, finale factor and massive box office and critical acclaim (97% on RT, 100% from top critics, 87% on Metacritic, 93% on BFCA).

Potter can't be ignored. Not this year.

Apart from being a masterful film
Deathly Hallows Part 2 was the
actual definition of quality blockbuster;
a difficult thing to achieve these days.-
I don't think the Academy will be able
to ignore that or the box-office performance.

That movie set a bit of a precedent with the Academy by which many think they will judge Part 2, which puts pressure on the Academy to deliver. If they hadn't went all out with ROTK people likely would have been a great deal less interested or supportive of the idea that a fantasy film could do well at the Oscars. That is why it will have ROTK to thank. Using the ROTK campaign as a template also means they are indebted to that movie if they are successful. Please don't kid yourself by thinking that the Oscars are about whether the movie deserves the award anymore. It's more about the politics of it all now.

I agree with the last one..But Its Wb job to promote Potter on oscar....Potter is indeed successful thats why it doesnt need ROTK to thank..Indeed Wb needs to market it....

i don't think he's saying we owe everything to LOTR if we get nominated just that they paved the way for HP (which is completely epic and amazing on it's own merits) to get there and for a film of this genre to be considered
