DH2 released on DVD/Blu Ray in November!

With the Harry Potter films now officially over fans still have a few things to keep Potter in their lives. J.K Rowling is launching Pottermore, an online experience to read, interact with and share the Harry Potter stories, and Universal Orlando will be hosting “A Celebration of the Harry Potter Films” at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park.

The plan is to hold the event when Warner Bros. release Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 on DVD and Blu-ray, which they mention will be in November.

No other details of the DVD/Blu-ray release have been unveiled yet (it’s only just been released on the big screen) but it will probably contain behind the scenes features looking at the score, legacy of the films, interviews with the cast, and final day of shooting etc. Director David Yates also said there will be plenty of deleted scenes.

"We’ve got a whole bunch of DVD [deleted] scenes that we took out of the movie. We never, ever say oh it’s going to be three hours, of three and a half hours, or 90 minutes. It’s whatever feels right when watch the film alone in the dark. Ultimately that’s what determines the length of the film. And this film felt the right weight, and the right shape and the right rhythm, at two hours. But we saved all the bits that we cut out, and we’re going to put that on the DVD extras.

There’s a version of Aberforth and Harry — a longer version of it that we got. There’s an extended scene on the beach with Ron disguised (before he gets to the bank, there’s a lovely little interchange with him and Bellatrix Lestrange.) There are a number of things that we have for the DVD."

There’s also a chance they could include an extended version of the epilogue, as well as the epilogue they shot originally but had to re-shoot because the make-up wasn’t right.

The cast have also spoken about scenes they shot but weren’t included in the film, such as Hagrid fighting Death Eaters, Flitwick duelling Nagini, an extended battle scene in the Great Hall, an extended ‘victory’ speech by Voldemort, and Neville and Seamus working together to destroy the bridge. There will no doubt be more, so hopefully they include them all with this being the last film.

I'm not expecting anything great from the extras...

The extras have been creepy ultimately.
The only extra I liked from Part 1 was MMM.

lol yeah I am sure we are getting all that the footage they cut. It would be nice to see all of that, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Not getting my hopes up. They are very stingy with extras and deleted scenes.

I hope we get a proper extended cut someday. The deleted scenes sound so promising.

Well, for all the films in general. Now that the series is over, I'm ready to see these amazing films padded out with as many worthwhile scenes as possible.

I'd really love to see the infamous 45-minutes that they cut from the Order Of The Phoenix.

I hope Yates does maximum movie mode this time. I loved Jason doing it for Part 1, but Yates needs to do it for this :)

Woo hoo! NOVEMBER! Sounds awesome! Now let's just hope that's not the UK release date and we in the U.S. get it in December....

And the deleted scenes sound good! I definitely want to see the extended epilogue.
  • NickNick Posts: 20,653 ✭✭✭✭✭
we always get the dvd,s in december

They'll hold back on the deleted scenes for sure. We might get 5-6, all boring ones involving the trio. I know I'm being negative, but that's what they've done in the past.

I'm hoping that the reason they've held back in the past is because they do intend to eventually release proper extended versions of the films.

Don't we always get them amonth later than expected? We thought we were getting DH1 in March, at first, but we got it in April. I'm thinking early December.

...or, yet another special feature on how a creature is made, or makeup or something.... bleh. Can't wait for the DVD though, so I can watch both together. :)

Let's all speculate on Special Features! What do you think we'll get this time?
Maximum Movie Mode/Focus Points and Deleted Scenes are obviously confirmed, so what should we get beyond that...

An "End of HP" featurette or a "Last Day on Set" featurette. I also think they'll show the speeches at the World Premiere.

They said at Movie Stop, they have it posted on their upcoming release list, that it will be November 18th, I even went in today and verified that it's still that date :) The girl checked it again on the computer to make sure. Movie Stop is a chain of stores that sells movies, I think it's mostly on the eastern part of the states.

    I second that.
I'm sure there will be a featurette about the last day(s) on Set and they'll also have a 20-minute special featurette about the World Premiere (and the speeches of course).
Deleted scenes for sure, MMM, featurettes about Gringotts, the Battle of Hogwarts and a couple of other irrelevant ones, as usual. :P

    My guesses:

    -Deleted Scenes
    -Maximum Movie Mode
    -Featurette: Gringotts
    -Featurette: Battle of Hogwarts
-Featurette: Interviews with the Cast about the Film
    -World Premiere
-Featurette: Last Days on the Set

Do you think it's possible they'll show B-Roll footage? I know they haven't on previous DVDs, but is it possible?

November 18th sounds good for me. :) I guess that makes sense that the people that go to that HP celebration in WWoHP get it first.

Do you think that the 3D Blu-Ray will have the same cover as the Regular BD & DVD Combo Pack? I want the official trio poster as the BD cover.

I really hope it does get released on November 18th, but part of me still thinks it will be released not long before christmas, As for the deleted scenes i really wish that it would be all of the ones we know of and heard about from the cast but i recon we will only get a handful :(

Why do you live is a must for me
Am i the only one who noticed that as Voldy began to tie up Harry in the final product of the film, it immediately cuts to the latter running away from the earlier, once they are level with each other? Now, that is what you call a jump cut!

I hope they include some sort of extended cut.

It is still out of context, but yes... they should have at least had something there. It's as if Voldy has let him go and then he realises that he shouldn't have. Harry's constantly like 'Later, sucka'

That will be in the future if any time at all, but we do need one. It still bugs me how short this film was. Anyone who says that 'the film is perfect at whatever length they choose' is delusional.

There's easily enough stuff for another 30 minutes.

The thing is, we KNOW this stuff was filmed and probably near completion. As we saw in B-rolls, trailers, and interviews.

i mean like voldemort punching harry and releasing him would have been more logical
Certainly, yes. Logic escapes Yates and Day, it seems.

I would kill for extended versions of each film. These movies deserve the Lord Of The Rings Extended treatment.
