That's the point of all the Marvel movies coming put is to set up this film. In order to "chronological" order.

These all have elements of The Avengers in them. Shows how they get them set up, meet etc.
I do remember Chris Hemsworth letting slip that Jane was in the story, but then when Natalie Portman was approached about it, she said that no one had told her anything of it and that her contract was only for three films in the Thor franchise, not The Avengers. Hopefully she was either lying in order to keep her appearance a surprise, or she honestly didn't know anything at that point in time. The same thing happened with Gwyneth Paltrow. She said she wasn't going to be in it, then a few months later, we find out she is. So perhaps the love interest actresses were the last to know about their participation, possibly because their roles may be minimal.
I just know that if Thor doesn't at least make a reference to seeing Jane off-screen, I'm going to be really annoyed, and if it does happen off-screen, I want a flashback of their reunion in Thor 2. Let's see what happens.
