NEXT COMPETITION

Harry Potter vs Severus Snape ... tough one!

Hermione vs Lupin

Draco vs Sirius

Ron vs Hagrid

===================================================
I am sorry if there is already a thread of this, but I wanted to make my own so I could be updating it.

I cant believe no one is talking about this, this cup is really exciting because most characters are tied..

In the last rounds, James Potter lost to Voldemort for only two, TWO, votes!
McGonnagal (sp?) lost to Neville By 15votes!

Now this time is,

Lord Voldemort vs Sirius Black... Sirius is easily winning

Draco Malfoy vs Bellatrix ... They are mostly tied.. Right know Bellatrix is winning by 1%

Hagrid vs Cedic Diggory... Ok so Cedric is winning by just 1.12% and we all know this is a stupid fight between harry potter and twilight fandoms so ppl please, PLEASE vote for Hagrid, ir order to have a proper harry potter world cup! We dont want cedric win the cup, do we!?!

Ron vs Fred... Ron is winning by 2% ! Fred is pretty strong!

Dumbledore vs Lupin... This might shock some but... Lupin is winning! And by 7.02% ! I am actually voting for Lupin, Dumbledore might wanted to do the greater good, but the ways he did it was horrifying ! (leading to Snape's death and plotting Harry's death)

Then there's Hermione vs Ginny and Snape vs Dobby... Hermione and Snape are winning by a lot of course...

Finally there's Neville vs Harry, this is a big once since Neville could have been the chosen one! And... This one is actually almost tied! Right now Harry is winning by 3.32% !

So, come on people, you can vote multiple times, vote for you favorites, discuss, and most importantly GET CEDRIC DIGGORY OUT OF THE COMPETITION!

VOTING ENDS TODAY AT 12:00 AM

    MTV sucks.
Sorry I don't like this poll because it's MTV. We know Twilight is going to beat Harry Potter. So I was yawning because it's not really surprising.

Ok, this type of attitude is what makes twilight fandom win over us , over and over again.. Fine you dont like MTV, neither I do care for that channel, but i mean come on, this cup is fun! There are a lot of ties, ppl discuss, it is interesting! If we spend time here at this forum, why cant we also vote and kick some twilight's fan ass

Because more Twilight fans like MTV then Harry Potter fans. They spoil the fun for any Harry Potter thing on MTV.
Then why are there a lot of ties ? Because ppl that are interested in harry are voting!! There a lot of comments just look at them , a lot of mtv ppl also likes harry potter!

BTW, RIGHT KNOW CEDRIC IS TIED WITH HAGRID WITH 50% did u guys started to vote? :p

EDIT: Hagrid is now winning by some .something percent! I hope it keeps increasing!

lol can people just be quiet about Twilight for once.

And I can't believe Fred is that close to Ron. Ron deserves to win that match x10.

The only reason MTV put Cedric in is they knew it would start something. Cedric is going win because Twilight fans are out of middle school for summer and watch MTV all day. Us Harry Potter fans are intelligent enough to not watch MTV. That's why Twilight wins everything.
This is what a wasted moment looks like.

Sorry Rich, I disagree. Lupin is a way better character then Dumbledore.
Both were father figures to Harry and both ended up dying. I like the internal conflict that both of them had to deal with. I can't say I like one character more than another. I don't think there are characters that are better than others either. Each one has their proper place in the story and are not meant to be better. Dumbledore certainly plays a more important role in the story.

Well I don't want to offend anyone so I won't say one of them, but I really didn't care for his choices in his backstory. I loved Dumbledore in all the books until I read Deathly Hallows. In Deathly Hallows I kept wishing she didn't write Dumbledore like this because it made me not care for the brilliant wizard.
Is it fair to say that you felt much like Harry did when he learned those things?

The important part is who he became.

Yep I felt exactly like Harry. Dumbledore just felt like a different character when we heard about his backstory.
Those things made him who he was. We know he regretted those things and was a good person. Thats how I look at it.

I voted for Ginny, because I just like her more than Hermione so I'm disappointed there.

But I think DD definitely should have won over Lupin.

  • I liked that Lupin won over Dumbledore... Through the first six books, he seems that he cares for Harry, and then on DH, it was shocking to know that he had been using Harry (and Snape!) all this time. In the end, we dont really know if Dumbledore really cared for Harry, but Harry has so much faith on him that he even names his iwn child Albus

While I can see why you don't like Dumbledore after what we learned in DH (I think he did take both Snape and Harry granted a bit), I completely disagree about this. I love how JKR humanized Dumbledore in book 7. He was no longer this all-knowing, flawless wizard we knew in books 1-6 (though he did make some mistakes in 5). It's great how she can make so many 3 dimensional characters, including Dumbledore, each with their own flaws, strengths, and struggles.

The fact that some people like certain characters and others don't shows how the characters she wrote are extremely realistic, like real people.

    THIS.

I also though he was this super wizard, and I got very very dissapointed with him and even more to see how cold he actually was in The Prince Tale, but yes, I love how Rowling make these characters 3 dimensionals, this is why I love the series

Dumbledore may have been cold in the Prince's Tale, and certainly did some really shady things in the past and believed in some really deplorable ideals, but seeing him cry at King's Cross redeemed him entirely in my eyes. He was just a man who had made so many mistakes, had lost so many he loved, and had so many regrets... His love for Harry and his regret was so clear to me in that scene, and this great man was suddenly all the more human in my eyes, and I appreciated him all the more.

and I interpreted that scene as if it was Harry's imagination.. like if he wanted to believe in this Dumbledore.. remember when he says? "This is all in my head isn't?" and Dumbledore replies "Of course is all in your head! But why wouldnt any of this be true?!"
like it was Harry's imagination, but why cant it be true that Dumbledore did care for him.. my interpretation was that Harry decided to have faith in the man he believed to be.. rather than the cold Dumbledore.. and we might never know if he truly cared for him or not.. but lots of ppl have faith on him

There is no doubt that Dumbledore cared about Harry. Don't know how there can be. He is human and he made mistakes just like many of the other characters but that doesn't mean he didn't love Harry.

  • ANYWAYS NOW WE HAVE THE FINAL FOUR!

    SNAPE VS HERMIONE

    and

    SIRIUS BLACK VS RON !

it would be awesome to the end have Snape vs Sirius or Hermione vs Ron! (something tells me that in the end.. SNape is going to win..)

I get why Snape won over Harry, I cried during the whole Prince's Tale. His decision to be a death eater led him to Lily's death... HORRIBLE!
    Then he protected Harry...
Then he is betrayed by Dumbledore..
and in the end.. he gets killed in a horrible way

However, if it wasnt for Snape telling the prophecy to Voldemort, Harry would have had a happy life with his parents!!

I voted for Harry, but it was just impossible. Snape won had more than 60,000votes over Harry

Maybe he cared for Harry, he wanted him to be happy because he didnt want to tell him about the prophecy... but I think he wanted to be happy because he knew he would have to die.. He wanted to him to die for the greater good.. I mean is complicated he wanted to do the greater good, but his means of doing it were horrible, by sending Harry to be killed! Like Aberforth said that all the ppl Dumbledore seemed to care ended dying or something like that

Also, if you think about it.. Dumbledore sent Harry with the Dursleys, knowing that he would be treated horrible, but he did it at purpose so he could be humble and not to be a brat because of his fame... Dumbledore was all about strategies

Yes, Dumbledore betrayed Snape..there is even a quote from Snape saying that Dumbledore made him believe that he was protecting Lily's son and that that all this time he was plotting his death

Technically Dumbledore betrayed Snape, because if he had told him the full plan, Snape would have refused to accept it.

Lol, no. Harry had to willingly walk into death for the horcrux inside of him to be destroyed. If the horcrux inside of him had never been destroyed then Voldy could not have been killed.

Dumbledore was not plotting his death. Snape was protecting Harry until Harry was able to accept what he had to do. Thats not betrayal at all.

Rowling even once said that Dumbledore was Machiavelli

look the other day I read this, it is really interesting and I agree with everything it says

    http://the-leaky-cauldron.org/features/essays/issue21/LifeandLiesAlbusDumbledore

what is interesting about Dumbledore is that we believe he is all this PURE/GOOD character for six books (for years) then we realize that Dumebledore wasnt that good, we get to see Rita's book, his brother tells him he was a natural at lies, but Harry insists in trusting him... until he saws the Prince's Tale... and saws that Dumbledore was manipulating him through all these years.. but then he has faith again on him with the King Cross scene and by naming Albus his kid

Yes, Dumbledore admits he made mistakes and deeply regrets them. That is what redeems him.

Snape betrayed Lily. He then regretted it and did things ton redeem himself.

So, Snape is no different than DD in that regard.

I dont think Snape actually betrayed Lily... Snape decided to be a death eater and that ended his friendship with Lily... he told Voldemort about the prophecy without knowing that it was Lily's son.. so then he protects Harry to redeem himself

Dumbledore regrets his mistakes in King's Cross... and I interpret that as if it was all part of Harry's imagination.. so I dont know what to think of Dumbledore.. but THAT is my interpretation

Well he chose being a death eater over being friends with her. Thats pretty low and in a way a betrayal.

Even though that took place in Harry's head it doesn't mean that it didn't happen. He actually says that just because it is in your head does not mean that it is not real. Imagining something is not the same thing as it actually happening.

No, DD willingly chose death. Snape didn't become the master of the elder wand. The plan was for DD to ask Snape to kill him so that no one could be the master of the elder wand. Where it went wrong was that Draco took it by disarming DD. Not betrayal.
