I love the Spy Kids movies a lot. And I was a big fan of them as a kid. So, this is nothing like the others. Juni and Carmen as adults made me feel really old

I also saw the Spy Kids movies, and I liked them, but now I cant stand seeing them, their just too childish which is good because its meant to be for kids... it is unlike HP, that it has an appeal for kids and adults as well

I love the old Spy Kids movie too. And its so weird to see Juni and Carmen all grown up. The bad part is that they could've done so much with the concept. And this just looks like a cheap low budget imitation of the series.

If you want to talk about monumentally terrible films with monumentally terrible effects, Sharkboy and Lava Girl was quite possibly one of the most painful experiences I've ever had to endure. That's not even a valid argument, "just aimed as kids," because when I was a kid, I was watching shit like Star Wars, Terminator, Aliens, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park. I had taste, even at a really young age. I knew quality from shit back then (for the most part) and I can tell you that even at age 5, I would think that this movie reeked of pure sweaty balls.

note: I did not mean that as an attack at you-- I'm just saying that all films are critiquable (new word?) regardless who they're aimed at. I just hate it when people give shitty movies a free pass because they're aimed at kids. The movies I used to watch when I was a kid were fucking awesome and still are to this day.

I don't think that "well, it's just for children" is much of a valid argument either, but Rodriquez has made it clear that these films are for his children and younger audiences in response to various forms of criticism from both defenders and, to a greater degree, detractors. So, to a certain extent, I can understand his intentions when it comes to these projects (I'm looking at his implementation of effects and the manner of his storytelling from the wrong perspective regardless of quality) - I just cannot accept this wholesale slaughtering of goodwill over his more adult-oriented work, such as Grindhouse and Sin City.
