There will be numerous stages for the establishment and destruction of the protections, starting with the teachers surrounding the castle and casting spells in unison. We will see the Snatchers try to pierce it, failing because it repels them with seemingly instant death, and then the Death Eaters using spells to test where it extends. Voldemort will arrive to break it down after both of these stages are complete.

It would appear that he breaks them down sufficiently enough to pierce because what we saw in the Part I/II sneak peak seemed to imply that the base of the protections was dispersing visually, and the exertion slightly breaks the wand.

Hey you can see both Carrows behind Snape. That's cool!

Next scene? Well, I think that there is this HUGE montage of scenes during the battle's preparation, pat. McGonagall enchants the Knights, the teachers create the protective forcefield in unison, Ron and Hermione go to the Chamber of Secrets to destroy the Cup, Harry and Luna search for the Gray Lady in the towers, the Order of the Phoenix and lots of wizards and families arrive and create armies, they go to various places of the castle, it's confirmed that we see Mr.Weasley and Kingsley fortifying the protections, Neville goes to the grounds surrounding Hagrid's Hut (close to the wooden bridge), Tonks and Lupin go up to a tower and prepare to battle, Voldemort gathers his armies outside the grounds etc. I don't think we really know the order of all these scenes that take place in an amount of around 15 minutes.

As for who hit them, it could be collateral damage during the duel or Harry/McGonagall's doing.

Yeah it's like they'll pay homage to the entire castle in the final film.
I think we'll see Hagrid's Hut and the surrounding grounds for sure, because the Snatchers section takes place in the forest, then continues on these slopes and ends up on the top of the hills where the wooden bridge is.

God, the nighttime battle cinematography looks so epic. Everything is flaring with fire and epic blue and gold light...it looks so beautiful. And the daytime battle looks very ROTK with the desolate gray/green landscapes...

I know aaron. It looks amazing. Everything looks brilliant. I'm especially fond of the daytime battle, which looks so much like Saving Private Ryan meeting Return of the King. Beautiful gray coloring, very raw, real and strikingly beautiful. I don't think that the nighttime battle shots are really finished in terms of visuals and cinematography, but they already look amazing.

Here's how I think the second part of the battle goes (forgive my lack of pictures...)

1. Like the book, Neville get sword and the Order/students begin to retreat into the Great Hall

2.Harry reveals himself to the Order and the part where Kingsley starts blocking the spells takes place around this (maybe Ron and Hermione are so happy to see Harry, but then are brought back to reality by the spells firing at them and Kingsley blocking them).

3. Bit of fighting, there is an understanding (either verbal or nonverbal) between R/Hr and Harry. Basically, Harry's like "I'm going for Voldemort, but you guys have got to get the snake. I'll give you as much time as possible, but you've got to get it so I can take him out".

What I'm wondering is whether the Molly and Bella duel takes place between 2 and 3 or after 3.

I know that. But I think there is a nonverbal or verbal understanding that when Harry goes after Voldemort, R/Hr realize that now is the time to get the snake.
