A new question about an old topic...

Well, not so old a topic and more like I'm needing opinions. I originally got the 2 disc set from Wal-mart and as you know the quality wasn't the best, but with adjusting this and that it ended up pretty decent. I decided to order the blu-ray combo pack from Amazon because of all the great blu-ray reviews. I got it today and since I couldn't watch the blu-ray yet (I'm hoping to buy myself a nice birthday present in a few months ;-) ) I watched the dvd that came with it and it was amazing! The quality of that dvd was a complete turn around from the other one. I had the same settings as the first one and things were brighter and clearer with this one...so I was wondering, could/would the WB put a better quality dvd in the combo pack than they sold separately? If the quality of this dvd is any indication of the blu-ray I'll be :-D

Maybe you're right... I don't know if WB use to do that, but I guess it is possible xD I also bought the blu-ray pack and it is awesome! I watched with my PS3, at first it was very dark, but that was due to the fact that I never used it to watch any filmes because it is new ^^ I adjusted the settings and it was amazing! I also loved the maximum movie mode, it's pretty cool to watch the film and get to know some details at the same time

I haven't seen the BR version yet, but I was blown away by the regular dvd that came with the combo set. I was just curious if anyone else thought that WB would knowingly put a higher quality dvd in the combo packs than they'd sell separately to those buying only the dvd.

My sister is the one who uses the DVD the most of the time, but i've seen it a couple of times. It is really good, just as you say it... I guess that WB could do that, I mean, at least here in Portugal the prices of the pack and the prices of the 2 disc DVD are way to different... If the quality was the same it wouldn't be such a difference

I thought for the Combo Pack, WB would put some of the BD extras on the DVD copy, but nope!

I'm not saying that they did it that way, but I was sure surprised (and must say happy) with the difference in the quality. I'll try it in the dvd player in the bedroom (it's not upconverted) to see if it's still that clear.

Yea, because the regular dvd, the one that didn't come with the WM special, was supposed to have the deleted scenes on it. The combo dvd's menu was set up just like the dvd I got with the 2 disc special, that's way I was surprised to see how much better it played.

so the br combo dvd is better?

It seemed to be when I played it on the upconverter dvd player. When Snape came into Malfoy Manor you could see everything clear and it wasn't as dark. I'll see how it looks in the bedroom, the regular dvd was okay in there after making the adjustments, but at times was a bit hazy, so I'm curious to see how the new one looks.

    Update:
I just started to watch the new copy in the bedroom and the picture is just as clear and bright as the upconverted one. I've never seen blu-ray, but this looks as close to it as it could get. You can see every detail and this is only a 480p dvd player on a 20" digital tv.

Is it possible to make a blu-ray quality dvd? If so, I'd say to anyone planning on buying DH2 on dvd you may want to invest on the BR combo just for the dvd quality alone, even if you aren't planning on buying a BR player any time soon.

I swear this is blu ray converted to dvd. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can get the br player in the next couple of months. Till then, this is awesome enough to hold me over.

i agree.... blu-ray is like a slice of heaven.
    O:)

i watched the dvd that came with the combo pack and was disappointed with how my vizioplayer upconverted it. it actually looked a bit blury, so i played it on my computer, and it was perfect. i'm selling this copy on ebay, if i cannot find someone to give it to.

The dvd that comes with the combo pack doesn't have any deleted scenes, but those you can see online. The 2 disc set from Wal-mart had the deleted scenes and the 1 disc regular dvd is supposed to have the deleted scenes too.

I have a Sony 1080 upconverter with the hdtv and a Panasonic dvd recorder in the bedroom, they both gave an amazing picture with the dvd that came with the combo set. The picture was crisp and clear.
