A FAIR IDEA.

Ok so earlier today someone started the Official Twilight Thread (NO HATE ACCEPTED HERE) I personally feel its very inappropriate to have an official Twilight Thread on a Harry Potter Forum. These 2 series already are compared to each other enough as it is. The Majority of the people on this forum Despise the Twilight Series and to have an Official Thread on this site i feel is a slap in the face and will only lead to fights and arguments. Now i realize there are people on this forum who love the books and the movies and i have no problem with that but if you want to discuss them why cant you go to a Twilight forum to discuss all things twilight? I mean ive never been on a twilight forum but im pretty sure there are no Official Harry Potter Threads over there so why do we need a Twilight Thread over here? If were going to have an Official Twilight Thread then we should seriously should just have threads for evrey major motion picture out there. There,s a reason why this is called The Harry Potter Forum. People come here to discuss Harry Potter. Now i realize we discuss other movies in this forum but i really feel having an official Twilight Thread is just to hot button of a topic and will only lead to infighting amoungst our members and we have had too much of that recently. I would like to know other people,s thoughts on this. I have tryed to be as Nice as possible on this subject but my personel oppion is the Official Twilight Thread needs to be closed as it will lead to fights and it just seems inappropriate given the animosity between the franchises already. Im not slamming anyone for being a twilight fan but if you are you can go discuss it in a twilight forum. Am i the only one who feels its inappropriate? and will lead to fights?

the other threads such as pirates and such are not hot button topics the way twilight is. it needs to go to keep the peace around here which quite honestly seems to be on shaky ground anyways.

Rich. The only way to do your job and keep everyone happy is to not delete threads. Just don't interfere without over 90% of the forum following you.

Keep the thread, but I just want you to know that it literally makes no sense to come onto a Harry Potter Forum and talk about Twilight. I agree this can kind of be hypocritical because we all talk about it when it comes up and stuff, and that is fine, but that always goes away. Is there really a need for an OFFICIAL Twilight thread where everybody talks about it? Why can't we just talk about it whenever we want, whenever the subject comes up?

To further eloborate, I understand you want to have a civilized discussion about Twilight without haters, etc. but if you publicly come to a Harry Potter forum, you are going to get hate. I am proud to say I wouldn't be one of the haters, but it is bound to happen. It is like Harry walking into a Death Eater Party and saying "hey, so how are we going to defeat Voldemort?"

We get off topic a lot here and that is one of the many things that is great about this forum. But the OT things we discuss are not subjects that have forums all to themselves. If you want to have a civilized discussion about Twilight, why is there a reason to have one on Harry Potter boards? It is just one of those things that doesn't make sense, you know? We talk about what we're doing today, tinychat, jobs, personal lives, etc. There is no Personal Life forum where we go online and talk about personal life, unless we were on Facebook. But there are Twilight forums where you can go online and have civilized discussions.

On the opposite hand, we do create threads and talk about other media, we talk about unrelated trailers, films, and literature--and that's because we're interested, but we've never had sort of official threads. They're always there to talk about them, not there because we will ALWAYS be talking about them. Like, for instance, I guarantee there will be a thread about the Breaking Dawn trailer when it comes out. We always talk about movies, but with Twilight, having an official thread just doesn't seem right. It feels out of place and no matter how many people you talk to, be prepared for the wrath that will be set down upon you (yes, I quoted True Grit.) Because walking into an HP forum to talk civilized Twilight is, no disrespect intended, insanity.

I'm sorry, but if you can talk about THG, Decarus can talk about Star Wars and LOTR, and Godric can talk about Narnia, these people have the right to talk about a franchise they like outside Harry Potter too.

Other HP forums have places to talk about other books, movies, etc. It's nice that we can talk about other things besides HP, especially when the news is so slow.

First of all, this is a Harry Potter forum. As you know, all the boks have ended and so are the movies. I say that at the present time we should talk about HP more than ever and commerate it. It's totally alright to go OT but the only reason you're going OT for Twishit is tO FREAKING BOTHER PEOPLE! I say delete it. I wish I could become a member and start HP threads.

I think Twilight is a god awful franchise due to lack of coherent plotting, asinine dialogue, abysmal portrayal of vampires and werewolves, puppy love without any substance whatsoever, and about ten gazillion other things that boils down to Meyer's inability to write any notion of a compelling storyline.

However, people like stuff, and no one should ever be told in any instance what they can or can't talk about.

Keep it. You don't see me in there ruining any fun. I say if people cause the Twilight fans problems, give them warnings. NO ONE should ever post in a thread about something that they hate and just want to shit it up. I hate Twilight but again I'm not in there telling a bunch of people that what they like sucks.

Since when can people not go off topic? I don't think twilight is good at all, but who cares if someone wants to talk about it. As far as i am concerned we argue in every single thread no matter the topic. It just happens on this forum because the same people always argue and because there are no rules then those people don't get banned. There are people on this forum that have no business being on this forum, but it is worth it to deal with those people only because we can go off topic.

If we can't go off topic then it isn't worth it anymore.
