Deathly Hallows Part 2 Excitement Rally
Okay, for real, the year is about to come to an end. What does that mean? That it will be 2011? Well, yes. But more importantly, Part 2 of what I personally consider will be the greatest film ever made when all is said and done comes out. The ultimate battle between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort is about to be portrayed on-screen by two really, really good actors accompanied by music from Alexandre Desplat and direction from David Yates.
What I'm trying to say is, to everyone, live this up while you can. How many times do we get a film series that has run for OVER A DECADE, building up to what promises to be a monumental standoff between two of literature's most interesting heroes and villains? Exactly. It rarely ever happens. If ever.
This is going to be fucking amazing. Mark my words, people.

Wah-wah! Here comes the sun http://www.miedy.com/ (my personal website)
haven't really thought of it like this, I mean, even the trailer releases are going to be epic event by themselves. Last time we can ever look forward to HP trailers.
The odds were so high and stacked against his favor. The villain, even though he doesn't really come into the picture until Goblet of Fire, has been haunting Harry ever since he learned from Hagrid just what happened to his parents. It's a classic tale of good versus evil, and luckily for all of us, it's an incredibly deep and heartfelt work of literature. I think it's fascinating that there are people out there who love writing and storytelling so much that they've been able to keep us entertained over the past decade. Think about that. I'm not sure when the first book was released exactly, but even for people following the films, it's been around a ten year journey. Again, I ask, how many times has this happened on film? Even in literature?
What separates Harry Potter from everything else is that it takes seven books to tell the story. Seven. That's a load. But I think it speaks for itself that people stayed glued to it and never wavered. We're on the seventh and eighth films. Usually, by this point, the story has been dragged out and beaten like a dead horse. But not this story. Every installment matters. Every installment has its own story to tell that works into the bigger picture. It's never hardly boring, or dull. It's supremely captivating. You want Harry to pull through this no matter what, and Rowling never slacks off on the narrative. Even during the big battle sequence in Deathly Hallows, Rowling is still telling a story-- perhaps the strongest bit of storytelling in the entire series-- from the band of characters still trying to find the remaining Horcruxes, from learning about Snape's past and what he's been doing all along, right down to our main character surrendering his life, knowing that he will never see his friends again, but knowing and hoping that his sacrifice is going to allow his friends to finish the job. It's a slim hope, but it's all he has.
And then what happens? By fate, circumstance, whatever you want to call it, everything managed to just barely work out in Harry's favor. Information from every single book finds its way into just how Harry is able to cheat death, return, and destroy this evil that has been surrounding him for the better part of seven years, and even before that. Because even if Harry didn't go to Hogwarts and live through everything, as soon as he turned 17, Voldemort would have shown up at the Dursley's and killed every single one of them. That's pretty amazing storytelling and one of the greatest character journeys ever written.
People are so excited for Hallows Part 2, mainly because of the big battle. What some may not realize, however, is exactly how much storytelling and emotion they're in for in addition to exciting action. I just hope that people see this instead of just saying that "well Part 1 was the story setup and Part 2 was just action" because that could not be any further from the truth, and it simultaneously smites Rowling's incredible storyline. This is about the best way I can sum up exactly why I'm so excited for this and why I think that both parts combined will be my personal favorite film of all time. Critics may not agree. The average Joe may not agree-- but for those who understand the complexities of the plot and characters, and for those who can get behind the emotion and struggle, this is going to be, possibly, a once in a lifetime film event.
Have fun waiting for the next extremely well-made saga almost impeccably translated to film that spans a decade and never loses sight of what it is, and not only never loses the quality, but actually gets better as it goes.
