The deluminator light. When ron pushes it and light comes to it it looks fake.

Also, the patronuses where king of lame. I mean, they weren't bad, but OotP patronuses where waaaay better.

Hedwig's death was much sadder in the book. Making it heroic took away any sadness in my opinion.

i felt that something is missing in the movie, maybe the score wasnt that good. To make things dark(with the score),they missed some important parts where the background score was essentially needed(like a pathetic tone during dobbys death was missing )and i can clearly see the movie being edited i.e the continuity of scenes was not really well placed.
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
well, dobbys death was sad to me :((
  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
Yeah there was moments when i think the music could have been used better.
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
i wanted music in the snatcher chase as well.
  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
Everything is sad to you Rich. It just felt like a throw away death in the film.
  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
No. I liked how there was no music in the snatcher chase. That worked. The thing is that is probably the only time i can think of where i noticed the sound.
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
    Yeah i definitely noticed.
  • devkris_10devkris_10 Posts: 360
i wasnt impressed by the background score , to be truthful. the best scene with good and perfect background score was the grave robbery,it was epic .
  • devkris_10devkris_10 Posts: 360
no decarus, snatchers chase needed a background score,so that it would have been gripping, but i felt that music was the biggest defect in the movie, hope they dont spoil dh2 ( a war going with no background score will definitely suck)

The only disappointments to me, was:
*the Dursley goodbye wasn't good enough. It should have had the handshake.
*Hedwig's death was a little too quick. I still cried, but I felt like Harry should have had a little more emotion for her.
*I wish Ginny had said 'Happy Birthday' to Harry before kissing him. And I didn't like Hermione going on about the cake she and Ginny made for Harry.
*I do wish they had tried to work out the horcruxes more, but I'm not worried about it for part 2
*I think Hermione's torture could have lasted a little longer, and Ron should have been more worried for Hermione in the cellar. But I also think that the way it did go in the movie was okay.

I liked that the Snatcher chase had no music. I liked at the beginning of the chase, there is some pounding music that kind of fades as they're running and then no music during the chase. It kind of felt like it made the scene more intense.

It's definitely by far my favorite movie. I'd like to see it again.

I definitely need to see it again. I'm a bit scatter-brained about it right now.
  • same weasley.. i agree with devkris the only bit i REALLY enjoyed the score was the tomb breaking... i liked the snatcher chase..
and i didnt like the fact that we saw harry stare into a different part of the countryside.. it just seemed a bit lazy!!
i loved malfoy manor... hermiones torture should of been longer.. i was in a screening of hundreds of people and they were like whooping at the non happy bits.. like when dobby apparated they thought hed got away.. so maybe some of the tony was a bit misleading..
    anyone agree hahaa??
    overall i loved it though!

I feel like they needed to stress the fact more in the film that they were going on the journey to find Horcruxes. Some people (non-readers) didn't understand why they were camping in all these random places.

    a hogwarts scene was needed.
  • aaronaaron Posts: 20,950 mod
No. It would've interrupted everything. The dark feel, the isolation, the balance, and the pacing. I'm glad they didn't do a scene at Hogwarts.

WTF! i missed hogwarts id rather have a hogwarts scene thn the train scene. AT LEAST SEE A PIC OF HOGWARTS!
  • Festax0333Festax0333 Posts: 11,753 ✭✭✭✭✭
hogwarts wasnt in the first half of the book..it woulda ruined the dark isolated flow of this one..HOWEVER im hoping for a narrarted flashback to hogwarts when the trio meets neville

  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
Still part 7 will always be the film that doesnt have hogwarts. Not even a pic of the castle :((
  • Festax0333Festax0333 Posts: 11,753 ✭✭✭✭✭
so what? we would have only gotten a one second shot anyway...THE WHOLE PART 2 is pretty much at hogwarts. hang in there rich u will get your fix
    imageimageimageimageimageimage
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod

  • Festax0333Festax0333 Posts: 11,753 ✭✭✭✭✭
i dont see how a quick shot of hogwarts is a HUGE deal..to me its minor, borderline non existent
    imageimageimageimageimageimage
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
because its been there in all 6 films.
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
There was a bit of Hogwarts.
    HOLY CRAP! WHERE????

  • Festax0333Festax0333 Posts: 11,753 ✭✭✭✭✭

  • Festax0333Festax0333 Posts: 11,753 ✭✭✭✭✭
i know its nostalgc seeing the school..and if it was there sure i would welcome it but its not aa HUGE deal cause it wasnt in the first half of the book..maybe you dont understand richard. Hogwarts is great but i wasnt expecting it tobe in the film..thus i dont care
    imageimageimageimageimageimage
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
oh THAT. i wanted to see the castle as a whole...
  • Festax0333Festax0333 Posts: 11,753 ✭✭✭✭✭

    imageimageimageimageimageimage
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
Pat the castle defines harry thats his home. *sigh*
  • Festax0333Festax0333 Posts: 11,753 ✭✭✭✭✭
but the MOVIE defines that its isolated and dark for harry...hes not at the castle. Please dont say i dont understandd the importance of hogwarts..but its a road film, about the hard times they are facing..if you want to see the castle watch the other films.

I know but when he looks at thd map they shouldve shown snape at hogwarts to show that evil has taken over. Oh i remember they said that theres a scene where they check students blood status!
  • Festax0333Festax0333 Posts: 11,753 ✭✭✭✭✭
i agree it would have been nice but im not concerned cause im hoping they show a little flashback in part 2...maybe thats the scene we saw in the trailer with filch

    Pros:
    Overall a great film
    Dobby!
Scary, violent... and very sad :(
    Realistic filmaking
The trio were absolutely fantastic (especially Emma)
Ralph as Voldemort was complete and utter terrifiying!
Brilliant colour pallette and cinematography overall
    Good storytelling and great dialogue
    True to the book
Works as a stand alone film as it is so good
Nagini coming out of Bathilda worked out after all
The animation of/from the three brothers was perfect
    Totally atmospheric and dark
Explanations for anything (TDH's, and Dumbledores past during the wedding) and everything (The Horcruxes) you need or want
Good flashbacks (including Grindelward and even Voldy from previous films)
Dobby's death brought even me ( a 19 YO) to tears along with my buddy (also 19) along with everyone else there :(
I liked the silent scenes (no talking) when they were camping, as they were given the sense and feel of a montage which was perfect for the camping
Even the most minor book details and moments were included... almost in there entirety
Loved the piano part between Ron and Hermione as i not only recognised the song that they played on it, but Ron was far too heavy lol (also there other romantic moments together)
Plus... the Harry and Hermione dance i felt was good and it worked out well since she was so upset and he just wanted to cheer her up, it was understandable and that is what made it work so well, as it could have been done so badly!
Now i see why and how Dan said Emma was an animal during their kiss, i guess that i can tell why... ;)
    The Silver Doe
Malfoy Manor's look... particularly at night in the beginning!
    The cliffhanger at the end
The best yet overall though hopefully Part 2 will surpass it!
I'm sure that i saw a young Dumbledore standing alongside Grindelward in one of his (G) photos!
Hermione screaming realistically, i also almost felt her own pain!

    Cons:
Nowhere near enough sad and epic music for in the main scenes, for instance Dobby's death and Godrics Hollow, the chase at the end... it now makes me incredibly fearful for what kind of music and lack of we will have in the Battle of Hogwarts as its a reminder of Hooper not being able to bring anything exciting to an action scene (Voldy vs Dumbledore and now the chase with Desplat's no music and it is likely to be the same with/for the BOH)
No Ron leaves score when he left (yes, i know it is in the credits... but that is simply not good enough)
Anything remotely funny in/from the book was turned into a fully fledged comedy scene
    No Krum
One line or more seemed to be cut out of every scene we had already seen in the trailers, clips and TV spots (CC audio footage)
The Burrow is now the Burrows (well according to Moody "Head for the Burrow's")
Along with Fred or George's line about the Minister turning up at their doorstep... who is now the Ministre according to them
Lack of continuity (as usual/always) in Godric's Hollow (the house for one, but then the tiny flashback of the Potter's death showed it to seemingly occur during the day instead of it originally being at night, plus Voldy has no hood and looked no different to now)
Most/too many of the 7 Potter's had no partners (i now guess Hermione and Ron won't ride together in the ROR)
Hegwigs death wasn't emotional, not nearly enough
No Wormtail/Grindelward/Moody deaths (though Grindelward's change can be forgiven i suppose... Wormtail's i'm afraid to me cannot, as he now will probs either have a crappy death (just another boring AV) or he won't die at all, and Lucius will possibly take his place since Jason said something different in an interview and his end... plus it was annoying seeing/hearing no reaction to his death when Bill mentioned it)
I never heard AV (inaudible i guess) from/by Voldy even when he used it, like in the duel from OOTP
Closeups were too shaky and barely fitted in whoevers head (Voldy with Gregorovich and the dead body of Dumbledore) because it was far too zoomed
Some of the scenes still had a 3D feel to them (Voldy and his wand cracking in the 7 Potter's chase and the camera flying in a circle around Lovegood's house)
Obliviate was twice pronouced wrong by Hermione
    Felt a bit too short
Not even a tiny glimspe of Hogwarts apart from Dumbledore falling down from the tower to his death
Why did i see Gregorovichs face in the two way mirror in the MM cellar?
    No Ron screaming
    Barely any Dursleys, Grrr!

P.s sorry to anyone who believes that i am complaining, as i am NOT... it is just a known fact that it is far easier to explain why and/or what you didn't like and/or what you thought to be annoying about it than it is for the good stuff!

    Sorry to blabber guys! :)

    Lord Stafford.
