This film followed the book way more than the last one and it's dark, scary (at parts) and Emma Watson shines through in this one.
In 10 minutes, it's THURSDAY! (Here in the UK). So we can expect a barrage of reviews over the next 24 hours. Maybe even a midnight release for some, who knows? WOOO!
You guys need to calm down and be patient. Just because the reviews are supposed to come out on Thursdays does NOT mean that film critics automatically release all their DH reviews at 12:01am on that day. Just give it some time, it is in fact the middle of the night from the US all the way to England, where most mainstream reviewers for DH live. Nobody is going to do give out any reviews for another few hours.
Added IGN's view, their LOWEST RATED Harry Potter movie of the saga with 6/10, previously HBP, OotP, GoF and CoS received an 8/10 rating, where PoA received a 9/10, and PS received a 7/10.
Well that wasn't his only complaint. He thought the entire middle section slowed down dramatically and he didn't like the over-exposition. The review was fair. Just that complaint about there being no conclusion was idiotic.
I read the IGN's review now and... well, of course it is an incomplete movie! IT'S HALF OF THE BOOK! Obviously, all the story is not there. The three Lord of the Ring are incomplete movies too... you just have to wait to see the rest!
And he said "the trio journey this way and that, without ever really knowing why. And if our protagonists aren't sure what they are doing or why, it's hard for the audience to become involved, or worse still care, making for a somewhat tedious middle section."
Well, but in the book the trio doesn't know what to do or where to go too! So it's correct.
I think he was hard giving 3/5. Reading what he wrote, I thought the movie was 4/5!
I don't get the complaint about there being no resolution. It's Part I of a two-part story. It's logical that it ends with more questions than answers. It's the nature of the story. I can't take this complaint seriously.
Now his other complaints were two: that the middle section slowed down and that Snape was only featured in one scene. Well, he's featured in one scene only in the book. I don't get the complaint.
Concerning the middle section of the film being slow-paced, I think we knew it already. And it's logical that things slow down during the camping. But I still don't get it. We have Godric's Hollow and Silver Doe being two big set-pieces, as well as lots of traveling and emotional moments. Did he expect non-stop action? I think it's unfair to rate it only with 6/10. Especially when films like OotP and HBP felt like set-up films and CoS was one of the most boring films of the decade.
Exactly flavio. His complaints are idiotic because he didn't understand the core of the story. The Trio is traveling without knowing where to go. I think I'd feel concerned watching them on an emotional toll traveling in desperation and frustration. And with the added DE moments, Nagini's attack, Silver Doe and the influences of the Locket it creates an even grittier atmosphere. Not to mention the fact that there's no resolution. They clearly say: Part I. This means: to be continued. So, no resolution.
How is his rating unfair? He saw the movie and those were his thoughts. We haven't seen the movie and we cannot judge it based on the book because scenes and pacing work differently on screen. Some of us may not have thought the camping was boring in the book but it could feel a lot slower watching it.
I respect his opinion on how the middle section dragged but to rate that as the lowest rated HP film is just utterly stupid as he clearly states that he was impressed with many aspects of the film. Add to that the stupid complaint that the film has no resolution, guess what, part 2 would have no set up too, IT'S PART 1 OF ONE LONG FILM YOU IDIOT!
Well I can't take seriously complaints like 'no resolution', 'feeling incomplete', 'the Trio travels without knowing where to go' because this is Part I of a two-part story so it's logical that there's no resolution and he missed completely the nature of the story. The fact that the Trio has no clue where to go is of utter importance not only for the character development but for the story overall. This frustration and desperation are proper. I don't know if these scenes will drag or not but I can't take seriously a review that thinks the film is slow-paced in the middle, while rating HBP higher. HBP is a film that is too slow-paced at parts with no resolution at all. It seems that he expected more action and faster pacing. I tell you, maybe the film will be 'boring' in its middle section for us as well, but I just don't get the lower rating compared to previous installments.

Wow. :|
Maybe he just didn't personally find the previous films as slow paced as he found Part I? This is all based on opinion and you act as if it's a fact that HBP is slow paced. I for one did not find Prince to be slow paced at all. The pacing was a positive note in my person review of the film. I thought Chamber of Secrets was the biggest offender when it came to pacing.

I'm sorry but if anything is utterly stupid, it's this. How are you going to seriously call someone stupid for having a fair opinion? Yes his complaint about the non-resolution is a rather daft one but he had other fair complaints. He just didn't like it as much as the others. No issue there. And you've never seen a movie you didn't think was very good but had aspects that you really loved? I have plenty of times.
I think you all are just angry that it's not as positive as you wanted it to be.
HBP is, indeed, really slow paced, I remember how both HBP & OotP were playing at the same time at two different channels and it was really obvious how slower HBP was. It's a great film, but I'm pretty sure even the slowest camping scene in DH would be a lot faster paced than HBP.
But then again, rating this film as worse than CoS & Ps? WTF? the bore feast that is CoS has a better rating than DH?

In YOUR opinion. The critic, and I, think otherwise

This guy thinks so, yes. A lot of critics gave CoS great reviews. It has better reviews than both OOTP and HBP.
were trying tto get oscars here idiots like this hold us back
Hallows getting 100 positive critics still wouldn't get it Oscars. And don't hold your breath. Besides technical Oscars, Harry Potter won't be getting anything.
And if anything is holding it back, it's the filmmakers. Critics don't make the movies good or bad. They just tell us what they thought.

He found the technical aspects of the film to be top-notch and the performances better than ever.
Anyway, we even know that the camping sequences are condensed compared to the book's ones.
