Bathilda Bagshot scene

I've seen 101 descriptions of this part in the book varying from 'She vomitted out the snake' to 'the snake burst out her neck, spraying blood everywhere and leaped at harry'. And witnessed loads of people bricking it about how they'll tone down the scene in the film. Yet, rereading Hallows and Rowling's description is quite blunt: “he saw the old body collapsing and the great snake pouring from the place her neck had been”. There isn't any grotesue or macabre imagery, no indepth gnarly descriptions of her body twitching and turning in an unhuman/awkward way, no blood flooding out her mouth as the snake tears through her flesh, breaking her bones. The film can get away with what's written quite easily.

Also, I LOVE the piece on the soundtrack.

Maybe they will use some blood, I know Yates mentioned having a unit working on a shot of Bagshot's corpse during the set visists.

Its hilarious to think though, that it was actually only just Dan fighting off a stunt man who played Nagini with chairs and once or twice getting punched in the face by the stuntman who i think and as far as i'm aware is in fact a boxer!

I agree that there is no need for a lot of blood. The snake can just come out of her mouth and the body just fall away like someone who has their strings cut. Just sort of collapse on the ground. That is how i imagined it.

Yes absolutely, but there needs to be some blood and guts at least, otherwise it won't be very realistic... much like how LOTR ROTK has little to none... and yet its supposed to be a epic war film. (which it still is)

Ah, that would be fair enough and a good point so as long as its for that reason, because i can't stand it when Yates never realises when something such as this is neccessary and proceeds to make a fool out of himself after trying to do the same with us, giving pathetic reasons for his continuous lapses and misgivings! (like the unimaginative Burrow attack for instance)

Well since Dumbledore fell hundreds of feet, had the scene been completely realistic, it would have meant his brains sprayed everywhere. But I do think some blood was necessary, even though they wouldn't show that in the movie (for obvious reasons). Even making him lie at an awkward angle, to actually look dead as opposed to asleep. As for the Bathilda scene, I don't think any blood is needed, due to the fact that she's been dead for some time and all her blood will have dried up and congealed.

Well, not always does your blood splatter everywhere (you make me want to puke now, lol) since particularly as he landed flat... not on his head in other words! though i suppose with Bathilda you don't really need any, so long as you don't just play it off even if the blood has passed on, but then again because we saw Hermione supposedly looking in a cupboard full of blood, i can only assume that we'll see a little!

Yeah, but the thing is, he would have fell head first, the head being the heaviest part of the body. Even a little around his mouth or head would have been enough for the movie.

Weight does not effect the rate of falling. Also we have no idea how the killing curse effects the body. It may stop blood flow and if it is stopped then he wouldn`t splatter. I am disturbed by my own comment.

I wouldn`t have minded some blood say at the corner of his mouth and there may have been blood under him. We don`t know. I just don`t think it is necessary. I`ve seen saw 2. When they threw the girl in the pit of dirty needles was the worst part.

Actually, weight affects how quickly an object will reach terminal velocity during a fall, and as the head is heaviest, the head will reach terminal velocity first and so he will fall head first. And even in the unlikely event of him not falling on his head, his bones would still shatter and puncture his skin, and when the skin explodes on impact blood etc would go all over the place.

He would get bloody, but I can live with out it, and I can see why they didn't include any (HBP is the "kids" film out of the last few) now let's just give this topic a rest eh? I'm trying to eat here. -_-
