Test screening issues

First off, I apologize in advance. I'm on my BlackBerry, so this will double post. My internet is down on my home computer.

So, here is my issue with the test screenings. However, first, I'd like to say that I'm very much looking forward to this movie. It sounds fantastic. However, that being said....

Does anyone else wish that the test screeners would talk more about the characters and the little details about scenes? Take, for example, the scene where the characters are preparing for the wedding before Scrimgeour shows up to talk about Dumbledore's will. Well, why can't someone talk about the details of that scene? Who is present? What else are they doing?

Every screening they talk about the same damn thing, from the major action scenes, to the fight between Harry and Ron, to that animation scene describing the three brothers tale, which, IMO, sounds extremely out of place, but I'm going to give it a chancce.

Why doesn't somone say if Charlie is in it? Percy? Is Madame Maxime played by Frances de la Tour again? What does Krum do, if anything, besides dance with Hermione? Are Fleurs parents in the movie? How do the actors that play the Ministry workers that the trio impersonate do? Even though Kreacher doesn't do much, how was Simon McBurney as his voice? Can't someone talk more about the characters and performances, since every reviewer talks about the same damn thing. Those are the questions I would like to know. Anyone else with me?

One review did say that Madame Maxine is at the wedding too. According to the IMdB Percy is also listed in part 1. I'm wondering if they were told not to talk about certain things because in one the podcasts (can't remember which one) someone started to say something then hesitated, when asked if they were told not to (by the WB) they did say something was said just before or after the screening. I think it's good not to know everything, surprise can be a fun thing.

I doubt very much they were told not to talk about certain things. The guy who did the interview on Mugglenet just thinks that he shouldn't talk about things. I don't know what he is thinking though. He goes into in depth detail about the silver doe scene which will probably be one of the best scenes in the film and then he won't talk about a stupid detail like Dobby arriving at Grimmauld Place attached to Mundungus' leg or the fact that Hedwig dies trying to protect Harry. Those are not really important details that need to be hidden if there even are things that need to be hidden.

Does anyone LOVE the idea of hedwig coming back to protect hedwig??? To me that is one of the best changes...

Hedwig dying in a cage is real. It is the real causalities of war. The sort of innocence lost just like that. Having her die heroically is just cheesy. It isn't that big of a deal and we have known about it for at least six months, so i have gotten used to the idea. I still don't really like it.

Like i said it isn't that big of a deal to me. At least it will still be shocking for her to get hit with the spell and then just fall. I just like it better how it is in the book.

The whole seven potters scene is ridiculous in the book. They should have just gone to the edge of the protection limits and disapparated. None of this flying around shooting spells getting people killed thing. There are a lot of things that don't make sense in the book though.

Yes David Yates isn't the cleverest of directors (not in HP either) nor is his mindset for changing things constantly and consistently so that alot of the time a change made by him will not make any sense whatsoever!

We've been through this before. Kloves writes the scripts. Changes that are made are necessary to help the flow of the film and the plot benefits from such changes / cuts.

Of course. Nobody is perfect. All we can ask for is the filmmaker's best and I truly believe they have given it their all with these films, even under pressure from time and budget constraints etc..

Thats the weird thing though, because to begin with Kloves was faithful but not too needy to keep it close enough to the books... whereas now he is picky about what of the source material he actually keeps, the complete opposite to how he used to be/do it... which is weird. But now going into seeing one of the films we're always doubtful of seeing something we liked from the book, not how it used to be with the earlier movies.

Kloves has done a good job IMO. Everyone has doubts on what to keep and what not. His weakest was cos,then hbp. The weakest script overall is OOTP....

I really like OotP. The coloring is the problem with it. It is too dark. That is also a problem at times with HBP.

HBP's lighting was too dark for me. I find myself constantly tweaking my TV settings. OOTP had too much of a blue tint imo.

If it looks like this then i'm good. The photos always look better though i think.

Yeah i have trouble seeing HBP on my television also.

Yeah OOTP is by far the worst script, book to screen adaptation and film overall because of all the jumping cuts and how the characters just happen to be in a place without actually having to get there first and i'm pretty sure they didn't apparate all the way round Hogwarts every day, all day... because we know that only Dumbledore can do that, though i doubt even he always does this .

yeah even in GOF the lighting was good i have no problem but in ootp and hbp its TOO dark. I hope the seven potters chase isnt too dark.

Yeah they might have trouble with some of the night scenes again. At least everyone isn't wearing black all the time so it will be a little better. Though i guess the death eaters wear black.

Well the colouring could have changed since the trailer was made, which was before June. Also, trailers are always brightened up. I thought the HBP scenes in the trailer looked brighter than the scenes in the actual movie.

I agree. The scenes in the trailers seemed brighter to me. It is like they darken them up or something. I don't get it.

It could also be the brightness setting on the computer which will affect the video you're watching. But yes, they do brighten the trailers which doesn't make sense to me. Probably some marketing thing.

That makes sense actually. I still don't get why i couldn't see some of the scenes on the dvd of HBP. I kept turning up the lighting and it never really helped.

Yeah. I have blu-ray and if I brighten up HBP anymore it'll make the image blurry and it'll have something like a cloudy mist across the screen. It's annoying.

Plus, it's best to watch films in the dark because only then will you get the true effect.

I always watch it in the dark and have still had problems.

If you look closely, you can tell that there is a blue tint on scenes in the HBP tailer while not appearing in he film like that (WB logo, bridge attack, cave.)
