Hermione's friend - new addition to DH Part 1

Melanie Slade has been cast as Hermione's friend. The pair will watch a game of Quidditch in Deathly Hallows Part 1. Another casting announcement can be found on the Casting and Film News thread. I put this particular piece of news into this thread because it is very bizarre - Hermione has a friend who watches Quidditch with her? Where would that be in the film ? Your thoughts?

Perhaps it could be someone she meets from the wedding? After the wedding's over and everyone's having a good time perhaps Fred and George or some others go to have a small game of Quidditch and Hermione and her friend watch from the sidelines? IDK just an idea. It's very weird.

Yes, it may be a possibility. For that at no time the book of Deathly Hallows, the trio returns to Hogwarts before the Battle, so it is impossible to have a game of Quidditch there with Hermione watching. OK? May be even before marriage!

Brilliant idea Richard. They're all happily playing and then the Death Eaters try to shoot them out of the sky lol. Yes it could be before the wedding too, felipeclubedoslugue. Whatever the scene is I doubt it will be long.

It probably won't be a full game, just like practice or something in the Weasley garden.

Must be before then. Everyone watches the wedding taking place. After they are married, everyone gets smashed and has a dance. Some go off to have a little game of Quidditch and Hermione and the friend she meets watch from the sideline. Harry talks to Doge and the scene with Muriel takes place. Then the DEs come and destroy everything. A bit random, I know. A very odd scene to put in.

Of course Richard, it may take place and HPs birthday Harry might even be the one playing and then Scrimgeour comes and ruins the party. But what would the friend be doing there ? This is so confusing.

It's for HBP not DH! her cameo was cut as far as I remember but I'm pretty sure they wanted her in HBP (I can guess that she was during the quidditch "trials")

She is gorgeous though, so I wish she will be in DH. :P

Clearly DailyMail is wrong, this quote shows that she will be in the next one, which at that time was HBP.

The Sun isn't exactly reliable but maybe I wasn't awfully wrong!

He never mentions specifically what film she is featured in, so I suppose it can be interpreted in different ways. He says the 'next one' at about the time HBP was released in the cinema, so he could mean HBP or DH as they would have started filming Deathly Hallows by then. Still, it's all rather confusing.

Yep, it is confusing. I just think the chance of having any kind of a quidditch game in DH is close to zero. it doesn't fit at all and it's quite unnecessary for them to spend money and time on it (keeping in mind how it needs special effects, stunts..etc to make one)
