The Order of the Movies :)

We know the books are awesome and I cannot compare them with the films, due to them being separate mediums. But I thought it would be interesting to see everyone's order of the movies. They're all fantastic films, but I would rank them in this order :

1 POA - brilliant, the tone and scenery was amazing.
2 GOF - wonderfully magical, caught the sense of danger rising
3 HBP - magnificently beautiful, magical, the most emotional out of the six.
4 PS - a sensational introduction to the universe, capturing the wonder of the world.
5 COS - a great follow up to PS and a superb adaptation.
6 OOTP - had a political, depressed feeling but sometimes lacking the awe of magic.

1. DH - *lol*....yeah, yeah, I know I technically can't put it because I haven't seen it yet, but it's my favorite of the books and I like what we've seen so far with the clips and such, and I just have high hopes and faith that it's going to be the best two movies of the series.

2. POA - I hadn't read the books when I saw it, so I didn't know the whole Maurader story, but the Harry's Patronus was the reason I wanted to read the books, because I wanted to know why his Patronus was a stag. It took me a few tries (with the books), but eventually got to it, and loved the story.

3. OOTP - I just really liked the movie. The LV/DD scene and Harry possessed was fantastic.

4. GOF - I liked it, but hadn't read the book yet, and after I finally read the book, I wish this film could have been two parts, as well. I loved loved LOVED the graveyard scene. Ralph Fiennes was an excellent choice for Lord Voldemort.

5. HBP - It was a beautiful movie and I cried when DD fell. My only complaint was lack of Horcux talk.

6. SS - It's got the most magical feel out of all the movies.

7. COS - I still like it, it's just my least favorite.

Lol! So wich one of the 2 DH parts muggle? Hahaha!
• [Deleted User][Deleted User] Posts: 7,344 ✭✭✭✭
Both of course! ;)
....although I guess I'd lean more towards part 2, because it'll have two of my most favorite chapters 'The Forest Again' and 'Prince's Tale'.
I just hope they don't muck them up.
• RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
Yeah I go for part 2 cause it's the final one. Then part 1......

Careful here, you've been slamming Yates left and right for the past couple of weeks because his films leave all kinds of things out. Now you're saying books are books and movies are movies and it's all about the entertainment? That's a bit hypocritical don't you think? I honestly don't care if you like the films for entertainment or if you like them to be more book accurate but be consistent :-)

I'll have to agree with Mosaico

1- HBP/OotP
2-PoA
3-GoF
4-PS/CoS

I know dashape,I'm aware that they're different things, but that doesn't mean I can't compare them, without the books there aren't the films and wen I talk bout yates I talk bout the book cause he's left so many things out,u can't help get frustrated......

Well, it is kind of hard to decide , but out of all the films I think I would say:

PoA/ HBP - I literally CAN NOT decide!!
PS
OotP/Gof/CoS

It is really difficult for me to decide.

Hummm and dashape, not to be rude or antything, but you have no right to tell richard if he is an hypocrit. I mean he can change his mind, and you do not have to keep track of everything he says.

GodricGryffindor, not to be rude or anything but he hasn't changed his mind since in a different thread on the same day he was trashing Yates for not sticking to the books (as he has for weeks now). I just call em like I see em. You can't talk out of both sides of your mouth and expect some people to take you seriously.

I wouldn't have said anything but richard and I have a difference of an opinion concerning Yates. His whole ongoing debate with me over the past month has been that Yates pretty much sucks because he doesn't stick to the books. Then he turns around and says that it's not about sticking to the books but about the experience. . . you tell me what that is. If I was out of line I'll apologize and I meant no offense richard at all . . . if you've changed your mind about Yates richard let me know :-)

Oh, and please don't talk about who has what right in an open online forum geez LOL. That's so open to interpretation it makes my head hurt. I have as much right to call someone a "hypocrite" as you do a "hater" in a different thread as long as it's warranted (however I hate name calling which is why I asked if it was hypocritical and never actually called anyone the name hypocrite)

Well, dashape I AM NOT TAKING SIDES ON THIS, as you said.
On the other thread I refered to you, because I see you are against some aspects that people point out that are plain stupid. Just as I am.
Now, on THIS thread I think you crossed the line by calling richard a hypocrite, when he has the right to change his mind WHENEVER HE WANTS. (Also notice that I wasn't aware of your "Yates Discussion", that it has been going on), and for that I apologize.

GodricGryffindor, if you think I crossed the line by implying that richard was being hypocritical then I apologize. He and I have had an on going debate about Yates and he often refers to Yates' deviation from the books as his justification for hating him. "IF" he changed his mind that's completely cool but within that same time frame in a different thread (concerning the locket's appearance I believe) he was all over Yates for the change.
i really mean is that im pissed at wat he leaves out, puts in, etc.
However, you implied that he was stupid in the other thread. Just pointing out that it was like the Pot calling the Kettle black.

OMG dashape!! I never called richard stupid!!
What I said, go and chaeck if you like, is that the complain about the locket - POINTED OUT BY LORD STAFFORD-was stupid, and also that they were blaming him for this difference.
Also blaming him for taking out parts of the book, and I believe that the man doing the script is STEVE KLOVES in HBP and MICHAEL GOLDENBERG in OOTP

Sorry for making the assumption that you were grouping Stafford and richard together by saying this line, "You all haters... ummm Lord Stafford, richard....should get your facts straight." That was later followed by saying "surrounded by stupidity".

Still, regardless if you called richard stupid or stafford stupid . .. you referred to one of them or both of them as stupid and then called me out for saying saying "hypocritical".

It's ok, I'm done now. I'm officially apologizing to richard for saying Hypocritical and offending you and being out of line. Richard, you're a good kid who helps keeps this forum active and alive :-) I've said enough and you are more than welcome to have the last word Godric.

Wow guys,if u were here I could explain y I don't like yates. I don't hate him,I ain't a yates hater,I've explained y I don't like him I think. His movies aren't that entertaining,I look at the entertainment and wats left out. I look at every aspect of it. I probably shouldn't have said that the movies are movies and books are books cause I do compare them, and like I said the entertainment beats it all. GOF is very different from the book but I don't compare them cause the movies entertaining. On the other hand, yates films are the opposite, they aren't that entertaining so of course I look at the books and see wat I woulda wanted to see. Hope I made my point. BTW there's no need to apologize, were all on the same page here, were potterfans foreva!!!!!!

The pacing is all wrong in GoF and the boys hair. Goodness.
• RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
I like the pacing of GOF, the only problem was dans long hair. I think the sphynx deleted was better cause I don't like seeing animals talk in movies, they make them look fake. Hope they delete the talking patronuses in DH......
• decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
I think the talking patronus is in during the wedding.
• aaronaaron Posts: 20,950 mod
Haha I just imagined it. It will be a bit corny I guess, but it sticks to the books, so what can we hope for lol?

*lol* Ah, the hair. The hair was awful in GOF. I think POA has been the closest to what I think Harry's hair is supposed to be like. POA hair was pretty good.

I hope they keep Kingsley's patronus warning message in DH.
• decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
In a fan set report of someone who saw some of the wedding scenes being filmed, she said that while they were dancing Harry entered the tent with Lupin and then a glowing ball of light said 'The Ministry has fallen. Scrimgeour is dead. They are coming.' The glowing ball of light would be the patronus sort of like they used a light when they were filming the silver doe scene.

So it's confirmed to be in ? It should be interesting, that's the only thing I don't like about HP that the animals talk. I'm cool with the transformations, but not with them talkng....
• decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
Well maybe it won't look as weird as all that. I don't really like talking animals either.
• RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
Good we agree on somthin hahaha!!!!

Going back to the hair, yeah I think Cuaron also succeeded in making a very messy but working hairdo. SS and COS, it lay flat too often. GOF, it was very messy and WAAAAY too long. It makes him look shabby and cheap. OOTP, it was just plain ugly. I'm sorry, but that little curl in the Department of Mysteries scene? It looks like he gel'd it to go to some prom or something. And HBP was a bit better, but still too flat. DH looks good, a sturdy combination between POA and GOF. I'm not too picky about the hair, as long as its not too long like GOF style but not like buzz cut OOTP style.

Yeah, his hair in POA was the best. In DH it looks good too. And Hermione is hot as always....

Awesomeness! I'm happy to hear that.

I like the hair look in DH so far too.
