Oh! I have acouple of questions. Are they using explosions for the battle or will it be like the order of the Phoenix battle and how many death eaters fought.
  • bereskibereski Posts: 354
I have information that Battle Of Howarts will be 30-40 minutes long.

Well Tom Felton said that the last hour of DH part 2 will be absolute carnage which i guess is the Battle of Hogwarts that he is referring to.

Keep in mind, the Battle of Hogwarts also includes Fiendfyre scenes, Snape's death, Snape's Memories, AND the forest again, not to mention the last battle after Harry returns. They have to fit all that in there.

Call me morbid but I want to see dead people everywhere ! I want blood and violence like never before seen in a Potter movie and I want gritty action scenes. Scenes of schoolchildren lying motionless throughout the halls of Hogwarts, with blood stains on the walls and bodies soaked in blood. I want to see intense wounds and pain and torture. We should witness Death Eaters slaughtering everyone in their path, leaving a trail of bodies behind them, with their eyes wide open. I want this battle to be 'realistic' and disturbing.

I doubt the film would show that type of graphic images though, since WB is notorius for it's toning down of these films.
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
Lol me too!!!! But it's going to be pg 13 so they can't show that much blood,I mean DK barely was pg 13 so I hope at least they'll hit some students and show aliitle blood and not make it look fake(like dumbledores death) I mean in DK wen batman punches joker alotta times,it loses it's realism cause they don't show blood on the jokers face!!! I hope we see alotta dead people in DH!!!!
  • Cliftonk3Cliftonk3 Posts: 193
Yea those aren't alot of death eaters. But hey we will see in a year.huhhhhhh!!!!!!! But I hope the effects have changed and explosions.I Noe it's wands and not guns but shut do NOT have this be alityle battle like movie 5
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
If it's a battle like part 5 I won't stand it!!! I want something we've never seen in another movie,I wanna be surprised!!!!!

    ^Indeed!

Well the entire Battle of Hogwarts sequence will be huge.
From the moment they arrive in the Room of Requirement to Voldemort's death I think it'll last around 80-100 minutes. It's going to be huge.
And an addition of roughly 30-40 minutes with all the scenes in Malfoy Manor/Shell Cottage/Gringotts/Hogsmeade and we'll have an epic 2-2.5 hour film.

I wonder how theyll show snapes memories.....any thoughts?!?
  • [Deleted User][Deleted User] Posts: 7,344 ✭✭✭✭
I don't think we'll see a whole lot of Lily or Petunia. If they show any of his memories, I think it'll mostly be the ones concerning DD. I don't think they'll cut Lily/Snape altogether, we may see one of them.
Has there been any confirmation that his memories are in?
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
    I think they ar
  • [Deleted User][Deleted User] Posts: 7,344 ✭✭✭✭
Yeah, I don't know why they wouldn't. Apart form 'The Forest Again', 'The Princes' Tale' is my favorite chapter.
I'll be disappointed if they don't do his memories justice.
But it sounds like Snapes fatality is going to be good. One of the guys who works on the films said he actually cried watching Snape die. I can't remember who it was though :\
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
Snapes death is gonna be the most sentimental death for me(like in the book) cause he sacrificed so much and he was on DD side to the very end...... His death is gonna be well made,i really am gonna be sad wen i see it.... Ill prob. Be crying befor the end credits roll......
  • jonny7003jonny7003 Posts: 3,771 ✭✭
It was Stuart Craig who cried.
  • [Deleted User][Deleted User] Posts: 7,344 ✭✭✭✭
    Yeah, that's him!
I was excited when he said that about Snapes death, because he also said, I think, that he doesn't ever cry, or something.
  • aaronaaron Posts: 20,950 mod
Snape's death, in my opinion, will be the saddest of the whole series. I mean, think about it people....apart from Dumbledore, he has been that sentimental character that's been here since the very beginning. Maybe Dumbledore's death would've been sadder if they'd stuck with one actor the whole time, instead of switching halfway through. Snape's death will be horrible, because we don't know if he's good or evil yet, and all those mixed and arguing emotions will bubble up inside us and spill forth, even for non-Potter fans. Also, the music of Alexandre Desplat will make the deaths much more dramatically emotional and the depth and scope of the death will be fantastic.

I agree no Petunia for sure. I think they might have one young Lilly memory, but that would be it. I wonder if they are going to show more of the scene where he calls Lilly a mudblood. I hope they leave all of that out. Just one scene where they show them knowing each other as kids, unless they show a few flashes of some shots as they get older. Then the scene where Snape overhears the prophecy and tells it to Voldemort. Snape coming to Dumbledore after Lilly is killed and then show the beginning of the conversation with Snape and Dumbledore on the tower. Show Snape plant the sword for the silver doe scene and that should be it. They just need to show the Snape/Dumbledore scenes more then anything.
  • BraveheartBraveheart Posts: 1,910 ✭✭✭✭
They need to have more conversations between Snape and Dumbledore than just the tower one. They need the one where Dumbledore tells Snape he has to kill him, and then the one where he tells Snape about how Harry is a Horcrux.
  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
I was just thinking that could be all one scene, but i wouldn't mind if those were two very quick scenes. I think the snape stuff should all happen very quickly so that we can get back to the main storyline, the trio and Voldemort. Snape is just a side character and i don't really like his storyline, so lets just get back to the trio.

Well remember we dont actually know yet if Alexandre Desplat is going to do Part 2, though i accept its probable that he will do it but i wanted John Williams for one of them because hes epic and so is DH Part 2!

They also need to have Snape shouting at Dumbledore about how it seems that all Dumbledore has done to protect Harry is to just have him die at the right moment after developing his magical powers only to have them burned out by the end which is as we all know not the case in the end but they still have to include that part of Snapes memories to do them justice!

I think that it is going to be somewhere in the middle. They are going to show more then i want which is as little as possible and still make sense and less then most people want which seems to be all of it. They aren't going to show everything. All they really need to show is the stuff that is important to the plot such as the idea that Snape knew Lilly when they were children, Snape was responsible for her death, Snape killed Dumbledore because he asked him to, and Snape was helping to keep Harry alive...sort of.
  • BraveheartBraveheart Posts: 1,910 ✭✭✭✭
Well they can't really make it all one scene, because Snape has to know BEFORE he makes the Unbreakable Vow that Dumbledore wants him to kill him, and he can't just tell Dumbledore he loved Lily all those years in that tower scene, because it would be all dramatic, and then not to end the scene with that statement would diffuse the power of it. And plus all those scenes are completely unrelated to each other so to force them into one conversation it wouldn't sound natural.
  • Cliftonk3Cliftonk3 Posts: 193
Okay enough about snape I am talking about the actual battle! X put the snape death, memories, Harry dumbledore limbo scene in kings cross the ACTuAL BAttle.
  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
Well i don't really think they need to include that Snape was in love with Lilly all those years because i think it is dumb, but i know people like it so they probably will.
  • BraveheartBraveheart Posts: 1,910 ✭✭✭✭
Well, dumb as it may be (I agree) that WAS Dumbledore's motive to trust Snape, so it is pretty important.

I think it's very important and I'd bet all the money I have that Harry having his mother's eyes is going to be mentioned in the Prince's Tale scene.

Yeah, something about them having the same eyes should be mentioned like in every movie.....
  • Pensieve SeekerPensieve Seeker Posts: 2,916 ✭✭✭✭
It was first mentioned by Prof Lupin in PoA and then at the end of the movie by Sirius Black. Prof Slughorn brought it up in HBP. The foreshadowing of Prof Snape's "Look at me", imo, came when Harry made the comment "He (Prof Snape) and I don't exactly see eye-to-eye" to Prof Slughorn.

Yeah,it came from kloves, its actually a good line cause it foreshadows that, only if they use snapes line in the film, wich i really hope....
  • Pensieve SeekerPensieve Seeker Posts: 2,916 ✭✭✭✭
I can guarantee you that Prof Snape's line is going to be in the movie, otherwise Harry wouldn't have said what he said to Prof Slughorn.
