We've got a lot more unreleased deleted scenes than we realize...

Today I met Simon Fisher-Becker (Fat Friar) and asked him about his experience filming Philosophers Stone (for the five seconds he was in). I was shocked when he revealed that he had filmed scenes for all the movies up until Goblet of Fire. He said that throughout all the films added up, he would have had AT LEAST 20 minutes of footage with him that was cut. He talked about filming the deathday party scene in Chamber of Secrets and he thought it was good fun. Then started laughing about the fact that his name in the Philosophers Stone credits appears for longer than he does

He's a really nice guy.

There is no “uncut” version of Order of the Phoenix. Yates even said, several times, that he intended to remove the peripheral sub-plots and focus the narrative, thematically, on Harry's isolation.

Most of the cut material that people are holding out for was probably cut early in development.

I thought there was snow because of the dementors, but remember what Ron says about Ginny. DH2 supposedly takes place on late winter, especially if you check the characters's clothes.

The filmmakers hated making Quidditch scenes. Besides the complexity of the filming process, they can also get very repetitive. There's just too much you can show about a match. So I heard them say that every time they HAD to do a Quidditch scene they wanted to add something different to it, so it didn't feel exactly like the Quidditch scene in the previous scene.

So with HBP, they realized they hadn't done snowy Quidditch before, so that's why they decided to go with it.

It's one thing to be a purist. It's another to have problems with stylistic choices, which is all a Quidditch match in the snow is. It's there because it looks pretty. That is why. That is the only reason. It looks nice.

Not to mention, it logistically can work too. There's no reason to say it can't work! They play in much worse weather in Prisoner of Azkaban (which featured a storm that was in the book), in HBP it was hardly snowing, it was just snowy weather out. In the books, the Quidditch season started in October and stretched all the way until April or May. There's no reason to think they wouldn't play matches when it snowed out, which was every winter.

That is definitely real. I remember seeing it as promo pics for OOTP, maybe calendar pics, along with those ones of McGonagal. Turned out to be cut, and everyone thought they'd save it for Snape's Tale.... nope.

It was definitely filmed that way. I have a video of the B-roll footage from OOTP where they shot it somewhere in my various Potter archive folders.

Uh..it looks much nicer in the sun. The book even put emphasis on it, with Harry taking it as a good sign.

Stylistically HBP is an incredibly dreary chunk of the Potter storytelling that if you interject a washed out sunny scene with the brown and blue landscapes and scenes that are shown everywhere else...well it can get really strange really quickly. I love the snow and the overcast practice. Both match the themes and look of the film and It doesnt bug me one bit that it wasnt like how it was in the book.

Because it was years ago... OOTP came out right around the DH book did. There was some drama over it back then, but long forgotten.

The scenes just didn't work out right. Harry wasn't in the scene during SWM in the movie. They cut Lily's scene, because they probably originally had plans for it to be a Pensieve scene, meaning Harry would be there. When it was just a mind invasion scene, he wasn't there in the actual scene, it was just a vision. They chose the vision instead of the Pensieve.

I guess it was pretty much forgiven when we got a good Prince's Tale with Lily in it, and added Lily scene with Snape the night of her death.

Interestingly, the same went for Robert Pattinson before GOF (his first role was in Vanity Fair, it got cut)

She's not on IMDB - I believe she used to be -- because this was going to be her only role, and since she isn't in the movie, they decided to take her off of the cast list. Because she wasn't in a movie, they had no use for her profile, so they took it off.

I understand that we're coming across as assholes, but you've got to take a step back and look at the ridiculousness of your argument here. You are getting quite frustrated that the film featured a scene that was snowy when it was sunny in the book. I just don't get it. The film contains much worse offenses, adaptation-wise.
