Ive been thinking and I really really want this series to be made on the big screen.

I think 5 movies would work with all these 13 books.

    I would place them:

Movie 1- The bad beginning, The reptile room, The wide window
Movie 2- The miserable mill, The austere academy, The ersatz elevator
Movie 3- The vile village, The Hostile Hospital
Movie 4- The carnivorous carnival, The slippery slope, The grim's grotto
Movie 5 (finale)- The penultimate peril, The end.

I recently read the whole series and this way would work perfectly.

*spoilers for those who havent read the books*

The first film would delve into the beginning of Olaf and how he wants to steal the fortune. In the second we meet the Quagmires, the get kidnapped and they are kidnapped throughout by Olaf. In the third film (which is only going to contain books 7 and 8) has olaf being confirmed "dead" and the police are after the Baudelaires throughout the film, things have changed. In movie four we get back with the Quagmires and so little happens in book 10 so I added 9 and 11 to it. Book 10 was the weakest IMO, but we also have some of the baddies betray Olaf etc. In the final film we see everyone again in the Hotel deunament, and then we go to an island with olaf and thats where it all ends, in a way where it begins as well (it has alot to do with the baudelaires parents) over all, this series would be amazing filmwise IMO, they would have to change alot of things Sunny does though (like cook proffessionally biting walls etc).

@Godricgryffindor what do you think? :D

    Absolutely perfect, Rich!
ASOUE has some amazing "big-screen" potential,
and I think you distributed the books perfectly!

I would so love Movie #2 and Movie #3.
They'd be really dark and gritty. My favourite
book was The Ersatz Elevator, and volumes
like "The Miserable Mill" or the "The Vile Village"
can be quite disturbing at times- it would be brilliant!
    Goddammit.

BTW, today at the mall I saw, for the first time ever,
ASOUE on Blu-Ray! I'm definitely going to buy it.

I'd also like to mention that if the series
get re-made, Count Olaf should be a lot
    scarier.

Carrey was great, but not nearly as intimidating
as book Olaf. One of the main reasons the series
didn't continue is because he just doesn't do sequels.

Cast List for A Series of Unfortunate Events, because we feel like it. I'll add to the list. More than one actor per character.

    Count Olaf: Hank Azaria

EDIT: Shit, never mind. I just remembered that you can no longer edit after an hour of the original post time. Fuck it.

The proper people have to get a script out there

Sirs face is always covered in smoke I wonder how they would (if they ever did) show his face.
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
Chloe is too old to play carmelita
  • PhineasPhineas Posts: 1,982 ✭✭✭✭✭
Doesn't matter, you've still gotta have an actor! Haha. You could just make the smoke really freaking thick. Or subtlely shoot around his face, with it constantly obscured by...something.

  • PhineasPhineas Posts: 1,982 ✭✭✭✭✭
    Chloe is fifteen! Lol.

  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
OOOO I wanted isabelle Furhman to play Carmelita but shes getting too old!
  • PhineasPhineas Posts: 1,982 ✭✭✭✭✭
Wait, all five of the Baudelaires? I'm not casting Sunny, fuck that shit. Haha.

ok for sunny its gonna be hard. I bet they would cast twins though, as they did once.

Ive never seen her act annoying!

Urma thurm,an is perfect tho I want to slap her in anything
  • PhineasPhineas Posts: 1,982 ✭✭✭✭✭
Count Olaf...hrrrmmmm...The thing is, Olaf is scary to the children, but as a reader, I do find a lot of his mannerisms and speech hilarious. So I'd want an actor who can be comedic and creepy at the same.
    imageimage
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
BTW Isabelle looks ALOT like carmelita:

    image

    image
  • PhineasPhineas Posts: 1,982 ✭✭✭✭✭
Isabelle hasn't looked like that in years, lol. She was such a little thing then. But Emily Browning and Liam Aiken looked nothing like the Baudelaire's in their art, nor did any of Olaf's troup, etc.

    Micheal fassbender for olaf.
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
    the dude can do ANYTHING.
  • PhineasPhineas Posts: 1,982 ✭✭✭✭✭
I'd put Michael Fassbender as Fernald, actually.
Also, Ian McShane for Captain Widdershins.

yes yes... he just needs the make upp but he has the actingggg
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
who could play voilet and klaus?
  • PhineasPhineas Posts: 1,982 ✭✭✭✭✭
Hmm. I did have someone for Kit Snicket, but I can't think of it right now...It may have been Helena Bonham Carter, but I don't remember.
    Geraldine Juiliene: Miranda Richardson.

  • PhineasPhineas Posts: 1,982 ✭✭✭✭✭
I don't know a lot of actors that young. I think the kid from Hugo looks the part of Klaus, but I don't like his acting...
And I literally can't think of anyone but Emily Browning for Violet. To me she was perfect.

  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
    yeah Emily nailed it.

    what about Mr Poe?
