The Official Academy Awards Thread
Yes, it's a week from now.
Yes, the anticipation could not be LESS exciting. It's going to (most likely) be a terrible show, but hey--a lot of us here will watch it anyway, despite all the snubs. Well. Yikes. Not so impressive results for Potter. Not even a runner-up mention. I don't know, I still think we have a chance at visual effects. I also hope The Artist or Hugo sneaks into take Cinematography, and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo takes Sound Mixing. Finally, I'm PRAYING TO GOD that Jean Dujardin beats Clooney for the Best Actor win. He won the BAFTA, Globe, and the SAG award, so hopefully he'll win here, even though the predictions say that Clooney is slightly ahead.

Mysterious thing time.
So Crucify the ego, before it's far too late, to leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical. And you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.
I like the Artist, but it's not holy fuck amazing. But if the Artist winning means Hugo losing, then trololol I'm in
Literally one of the first people I know who doesn't think The Artist is 'not holy fuck amazing.'

Movieception
Yes, the Academy might just be "licking its balls" because OMG it's a silent film in a world of sound, HOW ORIGINAL, but it truly is a fantastic film and much better than any of the other BP nominees I've seen.
It would be like me watching the Pokemon and Power Rangers movies and liking them now because I liked them as a child. It's idiotic to the max.

How many have you seen?
I actually want Hugo for BP because I'm quite a fan of the book and movie. I wanted to watch The Decendents but haven't gotten a chance yet.
No wonder the latest nominees are generic and DH2 was snubbed. Most of the voters are old farts.
Also this year I'm gonna give a kiss to the oscars. I'm doing chores and working on a sculpture and I forgot they were tonight haha. I'll check in to see the results every so often gang.

Loll, you see I sit home and listen to orchestral music or soundtracks when I want to relax it when I'm reading. To have just that with a movie didnt feel right with a light score but it picked up. It was still a good movie, but of the nominees, I'd pick Moneyball ahead of anything and then Midnight in Paris.

"The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has pulled actor Sacha Baron Cohen‘s tickets from the 84th Academy Awards. This means he is banned from attending the Oscars even though he is an Academy member and one of the stars from Hugo, Paramount’s 11-nominated movie and Best Picture contender."
